I dont have a picture, but I ran for a good 1000 miles on a duct taped intake duct on my cis 8v. Dang heat kept on making the duct tape un stick, whilst driving. Had to push her off the road on a couple of occasions. Now i have a "new" piece from the junkyard.

no pics, but the last time i drove my '85 was a few hundred miles w/ the alternator held on not by a bolt, but a duct tape-wrapped allen wrench jammed into the hole after the bolt snapped and fell off onto the ohio turnpike...

I've done that! I used metal pipe clamps and a coke can, though. I initally was going to duct tape it on, but I thought it would melt.

    For this:

Not really a ghetto fix, but I've burnt so many wires on this cluster, I could practically get rid of the blue board and just usethe wires I have running across the back.

I ran my jetta for over 1000 miles with an open coolant resivor, because the coolant was mixed enough to not boil over, but not enough to allow the cap to stay on (kept blowing hoses). I didn't feel like draining and refilling, so I jsut left it open and topped off with tap water as needed (most places gave me a free cup of water, but i kept a Dunkin' DOnuts cup in back just in case). Used plumber's glue on my PCV valve, with an almost nonexsistent gasket. THe screw kept falling out too, and I wnded up wiring it in place.

When I got a new piece of door moulding, I didn't bother ordering new mount thingies, I just borrowed one from each of the other door mouldings.

lol I've done that too, I had a piece that kept popping off cause the end was missing a few and it would hit the fender when the door was opened... I ended up taking them all off and redistrubiting the studs so every door had the same amount

The previous owner of my car was too cheap to fix the exhaust when it broke in the middle, so he heated up the pipe, bent it to the driver's side and put the biggest cherry bomb he could find so it would come out in front of the left rear tire. Not to mention he welded a metal coat hanger to the car to hold it up just high enough where it would hit the ground on every tiny bump or when I took a right turn. Sorry no pictures.

Top center is security (alarm), bottom row is cruiise, low washer, trunk, door, and gas. I still need to buy a low washer sensor (prob from a GM or something), and make something that activates the gas light when there is low gas (easy enough, when the gas sensor gets to a certian voltage, turn the bulb on). The rest work as is

I've held the rear bumper on with zipties, held the alternator in with a screwdriver through the bracket, and lots of other crap I'm sure I forgot.

When I got my small rear bumper, the top was all wavy. So I stuffed some old torn up Nintendo Power magazines (from the NES days) in between the bumper cover and metal. Worked great

My old speedometer gear lost the circlip, and I was 1000 miles from home, so my brother in law used a gum wrapper folded up inside to help stiffen it up (this was before i knew it was the circlip, and I bought a new gear and cable that DIDN'T come with the .20 circlip )

the pita was seattle traffic, went to three dealerships, all were "instock" but magically oh, it was the last one, and wooops, we were off on our inventory.

    DOH!

OK, lets open this up to ANY vw.

    Sweet, Nintendo Power bodywork!

I'm gonna have to do some soldering on my flexy-PCB like yours. Mine is torn and four of the little "paths" are cut, and the one I bought on eBay to replace it? Torn.

Any tips for success? I'm guessing low temp + precision == gravy.

Well, my soldering iron dosen't have a variable temp, so I end up melting the blueboard What I do is make the trace swim in flux, burn it all off, then solder. When burning it off, it melts the blue board so you end up with a nice lil thin wire to wrap around your patch wire.
