Looks to me like TCL readers were given some latitude but couldn't leave well enough alone. Our mods are volunteers here and should not be subjected to reader abuse.

So why was the first one locked? There wouldn't have been an issue if it had just been left alone. God knows the lumber thread has hung around long enough...

Because it had to be cleaned out multiple times for extremely inappropriate material that broke the rules listed in the user agreement in many ways. A single official thread was setup so everyone could continue to have fun with the current funny trend. As Brad has already stated others decided to abuse that... so its done. Sorry but that is how it is.
