Cleaned my front x-member to install the 247-parts Delrin bushings.

Changed my mind from cast pistons to forged pistons. (mostly due to the fact that there aren't any german 83.0 mm cast pistons)

Not knocking your hustle because it looks like a job well done... but the trim on the door pops off pretty easy making the mask job about 20 minutes less time per side.

Replaced the control arms, noticed shortly after I got her the p/s was bent, put a brand new set on w/ poly bushies. Replaced the tie rod ends, steering boots and balljoints too. Cleaned the crossmember real good while I had the control arms out too. Adjusted the coilovers as well, got a new block off plate comin this week and mount the oil cooler and done for this month. Now I gotta get an alignment and I'm Rollin.

Made the decision to park, non-op, and rebuild this turd. Found my misfire to be a blown head gasket . Looking at about $660 to get all the necessities from top to bottom beside the crank, rods and pistons. Its only got 79,600 og miles on it and great oil supply so I cant see all that needing replacing. Another $300-$400 to rebuild all the chassis components and all Ill have left is interior, body and paint! Wish me luck and hopefully Ill get pics, a build thread and have it all done by next year

Here's the bent a$$ control arms I yanked off the 85!

I pulled the headlight wiring harness for the passenger side out of the bay and cleaned the bay and rain tray for about 3 hrs. Pondered where to mount the oil cooler. The harness is hangIn out the passenger side of the bay, tomorrow it's gonna get routed in the rain tray and hopefully figure out how to mount the cooler.

Also pulled the old EMPI air filters off, the were barely hang in on, the fasteners were simply clips and ineffective at best. I got these other ones, all metal construction, pretty nice $35 a side, their goin on tomorrow mornin after I clean the carbs up a bit more.

Next is to get rid of all the rubber hose and clamps for AN and braided line with an inline filter.
The bay actually looks more like Alpine White now, I'll get better pics in the daylight after I have the harness re routed and filters on.

Man after I got the control arms off I sprayed the compete cross member and mounts, undercarriage down with degreaser and took a scrub brush to it, it wasn't too dirty in the first place but now it's squeaky clean, I contemplated takin the crossmember off and sandin it and putting a few coats on it. I already did the core support and I have two dual fan shrouds at the powder coater now, one white and one black just in case I can't make my mind up!

I'll do it all next winter, the motor is comin out and the bay is gonna get properly cleaned and shaved, as well the battery tray replaced, I spied a bit of rust hid in under the.

Got the filters on and the firewall done, I'm glad my freaking hands are raw from manipulating nuts, bolts, lock washers etc! they look awesome! The gasket was so tight over the stacks it was a B to get on. Def worth the money the EMPI filters were played out and ineffective, they were only these C clamps type clips that fell off all the time and I would find them on top of the cross member or control arm. These clips are stout, very nice design, won't fall off.

Well, I was done for the day and got a wild hair and had this V/C on a South African Carb'd head I got a lil while ago, I like it bett than the G60 V/C, it's unique.

    Also bought these today

To fix this, I have a brand new arm and new bolt to replace it. Wish me luck, it's gonna be no fun at all!

Picked this GTI two weeks ago 60k original miles still has the original tires on it

    (sorry for the blurrrrr)

Got it running to day.......little history behine the car was sitting for 17 years, yes 17 years. the car is a time capsule form 1995.

New fuel pumps a filter and a gas tank and some new gas and a little time and she pures like a new one.
