Yeah, mine's a hooptie too. I'm just kicking around some ideas to see what direction I want to take this car.

seems to work well for this new beetle

which lines go into the cluster? i am having the same issue along with some other issues that seem to be vacuum leak related but from what ive been able to trace of the system so far everything looks fine... the car sat for three years and the person i bought it from never actualy drove it so everything (like the disconected cruise controll system) is a big friggin box of mystery to me ntm this is my first mk2, my first four banger, and the oldest car ive ever had by a decade

After sitting apart for two months, I finally put the trans back into the car after doing a clutch swap.

Got ancy and was giddy ready to go for the test drive to see if the clutch is still slipping/enaging oddly.

Only to find no spark what so ever. Thinking it is the Crank Position Sensor, but I can't get ahold of my friends that may have one.

    Taken right before major dissapointment.

new rear struts and neuspeed sports are in, swapped the front mk3 springs out for neuspeed sports as well. so minor lows have been acquired, but better than that the popping from the bearings have stopped

Drove mine around the block to the park after jump starting it .shut it off at the park not thinking and had to have the wife come rescue me ..as she's hammered to the ground in her mk5 and I was lucky enough to be in the middle of a nasty dirt and rocky parking lot , she wasn't all that happy with me

replaced the front rebar on my beige jetta coupe bumper, and the side clips also. Then I soldered in the replacement injector harness and ground wires. Also removed the w/p pulley that has the bearing and replaced it with the no bearing one.

Today I sold it and I am so bummed right now. Seriously...almost shed a tear when I took the buyer's offer. Took so long to find the perfect MKII and I put a ton of blood/sweat equity into her. I hope her new owner treats her right and that she returns the favor.

    I am an idiot.

PLUGGED in the Crank Position Sensor and one other sensor that has a white/cream-ish and the car fired right up.

Thing rips now, so fun...two years worth of headaches are starting to find their way to dissolve.

Today I took my kids to school, on the way back home the clutch cable was cut, it is new 6 months old only,,,

I changed it myself and took me 30 mints.

start to hate the car coz of its Idle problem, I changed everything belongs to ideling and no luck..

when cold the RPM goes from 700 to 1100 then when it is normal temp. it stills on 1500 rpm..

Took the alternator out on the 20th and brought it to a local guy that rebuilds them. He tested it all out and confirmed it was smoked. A reman from Napa or Autozone is $139 plus core. A new one is way more than I feel like spending. For $100, he rebuilt this PROPERLY. I got it back on the 27th, and put it in the next day. Now my car runs AND charges!

Next up: finish the stereo install and removal of the old SatRad system I had in there...
