Changed the oil, 20w50 dyno juice, and tightened the clamps on the PS tank hoses.

I really need an OEM MK2 PS fluid tank...

Test control arm bushing with the car sitting on level ground put your foot behind the tire and push it forwards. If the wheel moves that's it. It will also go back to front.

Inner tie rods can do this but normally not very loud.
No it doesn't do it at all when I hit the brakes. And the wheel doesnt budge much when I do that. They could be slightly worn I guess.

Spent the day at pick-n-pull. Didn't find anything that cool, but the weather was great and my lady wanted to come with, so it made for a nice saturday.

drove it to pick up some stuff for the caddy when i heard a loud noise from the engine bay, then the battery light kicked on. drove 45 minutes home (thank god for diesel) opened the hood and found out the alternator bolt rattled out and the alternator fell off, belt was perfectly intact not a mark on it. put it all back together and put the battery on the charger

Yeah steering feels fine, or at least what I think is fine. The rack bushing is pretty worn so my steering might be odd becasue of that, other than that it feels ok.

pulled the trans out to do the clutch only to find a brand new clutch installed absolutely soaked in gear oil. Its sunday so no one is available to deliver the input shaft seal ofcourse (since the only place that carries it is VW). now i wait for parts, the only major down side to german cars.

Car stopped going into gear when I was driving, was worried that my trans went until I looked under the hood and found the shifter relay shaft bushing completely torn off. Managed to get it back in for now but obviously it's going to need a new bushing. Apparently the bushing is supposed to look like a ball, mine just looked like a ring

Anyone know where I can get just the bushing? Don't feel like paying 30 bucks for the whole shaft with a new bushing attached.

I bought this one on eBay. It is Custom made using delrin I think. Comes with the ball only for $15.

Took my car to safelite to get a new windshield, about 45 minutes after my appointment started I got a phone call.

They can't install a new windshield or put the old one back in because of this:

Any of you guys ever need to get that replaced / repaired?
