Before picture probably doesn't look too bad on camera but they were pretty dull looking and badly curbed.

Yeah, it's an 8v. If I wanted a sporty car, I'd buy an R.

Sorry for the crappy pic, but got news that these badboys are done at the powdercoater. Hopefully picking them up this weekend, then it's time to play with adapters to get just the right setup. The four white ones are going on the car, the 2 red ones are actually done in a red very similar to what Porsche uses for their spares, and they will be the spares for my coupe and my MK3. All 6 are 16x8.

was pulling into my driveway and lost pretty much all but 3rd gear. popped the boot off and saw this
weird thing is, it drove fine all day. moved the linkage in the bay, felt really weird. im going to attempt an alignment on it, if that doesnt work then idk what to do other than swap the tranny

Swapped out the oil pan for a new one and put in a windage tray, followed by an oil change (duh).
Quick question... why does Volkswagen hate the people who work on thier cars? Those two bolts nearest the tranny were a nightmare. At first I thought takin' 'em off was the hard part... I cross threaded twice before gettin' 'er to go. I got them almost to 15 ft/lbs before they started to round off. I hope that's tight enough. I'm gonna hate myself the next time I need to pull 'em off...
By the way I used a 1/4' socket with u adapter and 1/4 to 3/8 adapter but the socket was just a bit too long to fit in there. An all in one u socket or shorter bits would have been better. Next time I'll have allen bolts on hand to replace.
I know it's an 87, but it's MY 87.

Finished 10.1 vented front rotor swap. Got some brand new brembo rotors, calipers, carriers, spindles, and lines.
Anyone know how to rebuild front struts? I have an H&R sport cup kit on my Jetta and the fronts are both leaking. The passenger side still has enough in it where it feels right but the drivers lost alot. Anyway to rebuild this or refill it somehow? I talked to H&R about ordering new front struts and they said they would get back to me that day which was about a week ago and nothing yet. It would be pretty hard to find just the front struts for sale so rebuilding them is my first option.
If anyone does have some for sale, i have cash and would love to buy them.

Is USRT still in business? I found their website, but they haven't replied to my email. I was also wondering if they had a shop I could actually visit. I thought they were in NJ, thanks...and I haven't worked on the GTI since I snapped a piston ring![]()
My girlfriend and I may have broken up after three years, but then again, I have the MK2<3
