Thread: What did you do to your Mk2 do today?

    1. 08-11-2005 01:07 PM #211
I tried to install my 7" single round conversion I got from RPI. The fitment is horrible, Im not sure what I did wrong. Oh well i'll have to try to work it out on saturday.

Tried to decide if I should replace my clutch before I goto college or wait till next summer. Also wondered why valve #3 started ticking so much more yesterday. Maybe I need new oil.

Contemplating driving it a friend's house cause it's 55 the whole way and there are some 35MPH turns that are easy at 55.

Also considering doing a compression test to see how much I gained when I planed my head for a new head gasket.

You're in Escondido? I'm in Coronado. If you need help, lemme know.

I did a single round conversion, and it took me about 4 hours. About three of that was trying to get the grille on straight. It involves breaking a few of the clips and then using zip ties on the ends to get the corners to line up.

      ...yes, I know I'm ghetto.

Gave mine a hug and then gutted the coolant system. Pulled the radiator out, hoses, and airconditioning condensor. Replacing everything.

      Factory VW Spring/Hose Clamps suck

I'm about to do the same, and AC condensor (busted it trying to hook up new reciever/dryer)

      any tips on the removal?

did you remove it out the back like bentley says, or remove the headlights and whole rad bracket and take it off forward?

--I like those hose clamps, they don't leak. you just need like 14 sets of wierd pliers and 3 hands.

      Well, made some progress today.
Installed the new radiator, AC Condensor, Evaporator, restored radiator support, New Hella High and Low Beams, added coolant and Redline Water Wetter. Installed Grill and ordered new front and rear bumpers.

      New Radiator and Condensor
Detailed hoses, trim, painted cross-member, etc.

      New Hella High Beams

New Hella Low Beams, Stainless Fasteners

Engine is almost completely detailed now. Will replace AC lines and other corroded parts when I get another $300

Installed ABD Short Shift Kit and Power Shifter http://www.abdracing.com

The parts list for this car is never ending. I will continue to post progress as it is made. Wait till you see the Boston Acoustics, Alpine, Monster Cable Audio/Video System. Need more time
