I want to replace the vacuum hoses on my 2001 1.8T (AUG) passat(5speed). What I need to know is what lengths and diameter hoses I will need. I want to go with silicone hoses. Are there any companies that sell complete kits?

      Thanks
      Greg

I'm interested in this as well. Most of my hoses look ok though, except for the two 3.5mm braided hoses on the top.

Go to http://www.hosetechniques.com and order 12ft of 3.5mm silicone vacuum hose - you pick the color. Then go to http://www.passatworld.com and look for the group buy section. Find the GB on miniature hose clamps from mistertam and order a package of those for $7.

This will give you enough hose and clamps to do your vacuum hoses - replacing all of the braided lines as well as enough to run a boost gauge.

That group buy on http://www.passatworld.com is now closed according to the original post and http://www.hosetechniques.com wants $17.00 to ship 12' of hose to me. I got to find something else.

If in stock you can get black silicone hose from Mistertam for $1.05 / ft. which is cheaper than hostechniques or hightempsilicone.

I just replaced all of the braided hoses on my '01.5 w/ hightempsilicone hose and mistertam clamps. Although tedious, it was well worth the trouble and the scratched up hands. Most of the hoses cracked like a pretzel when I pulled on them.

Thank you very much! Just ordered the clamps, but they have run out of hoses.
BTW, how different are the AUG engines (mine) from the AWT engines. I have seen pics for the hoses for the AWT engines, but not all of them match my AUG. For example, I do not see the long hose that runs through the front of the engine.

Wow, you think $17 shipped is too much to spend on high quality silicone hose?

Thanks for putting things into proper perspective, but if anyone wants to save a little money, on principle if nothing else, try buying vacuum line from HighTempSilicone's eBay store.

Upgrading to silicone hoses is one of the most cost-effective ways to enhance your car's reliability, and, yes, the colorful silicone hoses DO look sharp, as well.

no, $17 was the cost of shipping alone. Not including the price of the hose.
