Is the price the same for TDI's using VW-specific 505.01 oil?

Question: I'm still at odds whether to take my TDI back to the dealer for its first service - obviously all dealers are promoting cash grabs by using "please service your car with a VW dealer in order to maintain its warranty" or lines like that - but after more than 10 years experience in working on my own cars, we all know dealers can't obviously put more care into a car than an owner (in most cases) ...

does your shop warrant its work and able to satisfy a warranty claim should it come to a point that my car needs warranty work done and is refused by a dealer becasue I took my car elsewhere for it's first service / or performed work myself?

      Hi
It is up to the dealership if they accept outside work. Call them up and ask.

VW Canada Customer Care mentioned any warranty claims (if any) should be honoured if non-dealership or DIY service is performed with properly noted documentation ie. receipts, invoices and engine oil data sheets (especially important for PD-TDI engine quipped VW's)

BTW, does your shop perform regular 'drain plug" OC's or do you use extraction devices like the PELA 6000?

Hi, I would like to know how much for a synthetic oil change for a 2003 V6 2.8L Passat?

      Thanks

    18. 12-18-2005 03:54 PM #18
Would synthetic oil benefit any car at any mileage? I have 170k on my VR and was wondering if I should continue using regular oil (Castrol GTX) or switch...

    19. 12-18-2005 11:47 PM #19
Synthetic protects your engine way better than Dino oil. You may also get a little better MPG. Another benefit of synthetic oil is that you can increase your oil change interval.

I need a serious oil change.

Looking to replace the tranny fluid on my 01M with Amsoil Full Synthetic. I would like to have the pan dropped and cleaned and the filter replaced. I already have a filter and gasket. Just need the oil and the labour.

Also need an engine oil change for my 1.8T. Wondering how much for Amsoil 20w50?

      Lemme know how much, thanks.

Run it through your fingers and experience the lushness of Motul and pure clean taste.

Although I brought my own oil/filter... The service here was very professional... he took his time and treated my car with care.

Also helped diagnose a seperate problem I've been having and fixed it for a fraction of the cost.

      Positive feedback all around

Just got my engine oil and tranny oil changed. Great guy and he treated my car as if it was his.

I have used conventional oil for years, ready for the switch, will I need a flush?

Flush is a good idea and risky at the same time. If your engine has sludge issues then it may cause problems.

Lucas has gone in about 6 or 7 oil changes, to help oil consumption problem. I want to stop using that as well, to flush or not to flush that is the question.
