I try to stay between 6-10 K, earlier that 6k is a waste of money and perfectly good oil.

Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.

  6. 07-26-2007 04:59 PM #76
Quick question for a guy who really doesn't know a whole lot on synthetic oils. I have a 97 2.0L Jetta with 215k on the engine. I've been using 10w30 oil. I'm thinking about switching to synthetic. I don't push the engine hard (no mods to the car) and just would like to know what kind of synthetic I could/should consider for driving in Ontario summer/winter weather.

cheers for your help in advance.

  7. 07-26-2007 05:22 PM #77
10W30 is too thin for most European engines.

Regardless of mileage you should switch to a thicker oil. Any quality 10W40 or 5w40 synthetic oil will work fine.

HUGE ditto. Best prices and quality service in the GTA hands down and worth the trip.

    See you saturday Perjad.

PS: there is a shop in Btown 5 minutes from my place, and I'd still rather make the trek to see Perjad.

    Cheers.

    Perjads the man, it's true.

So far hes converted my oil to synth.
    Same with my gear oil.

and replaced my dogbone mount and squeezed in some poly inserts too...

All very reasonably priced and the conversation was great. Very intelligent guy with tons on knowledge on VWs.

so I have an A6 2.7T which takes about 7L of oil....when you say 79.99 all V6's that means theres no set quantity limit that the motor takes or 79.99 for 5L

by V6 I mean VR6 and Audi/Passat V6. V6 turbos or BMW V6 take more than 6L of oil. You pay $10 per L extra for those cars. Remember I dont use bulk oil.

    X2, Perjad knows VW's

I just took my car to get an oil change, next thing you know, I'm getting my plugs changed and finally replaced my wiper blades. I give my business to Perjad all the time. He's the best.

Get the Icon wiper blades.. What a big difference
