Thread: 4 Cylinders, 2 Turbos, 1 Supercharger....Insanity!!

  1. 09-09-2005 04:52 PM #1

His goal is to make 800+ WHP. Best part is....the a/c is still in tact and the car gets driven....at 26 mpg when the supercharger is off! The STi has 2 GT30's and an AMG Supercharger.

Somehow, with all that **** in there, the engine bay doesn't look all that messy... busy for sure but not messy. I bet that thing sounds like a fockin BEAST

Its all pretty and all, but I wonder what type of engine management he's running, and if this runs right at all.

I remember seeing this car run in Arizona and seeing the engine bay before hand. Insane is right. I think he's still getting the bugs out though as the last time I saw that car run which was awhile ago was 12.2ish in the 1/4. Not that fast...

Although last I heard he made 5xxwhp and some ridiculous amount of torque.

it's cool, but with all the added weight, and everything that can go wrong, i don't think the "juice is worth the squeeze."

While it's impressive, aren't there faster examples with MUCH less work?

Oh yes But I'd give him the benefit of the doubt and that it still has bugs to be worked out.

I think its a matter of uniquness and just the fact that the person that built the car probably enjoys doing so - maybe its a shop project and what better way to get a shop known for high quality work then producing something like this.

On top of that what about power band accross the rpm range. Maybe he did not want to have 500 rpm of usable power - who knows. While I do not know first hand how the power would be distributed with such a setup, I image its a little different then slapping on one large turbo that takes hours to spool.

I have my doubts... the first photo with the hood closed looks like a photoshop...

Even then, thats too small an engine to power 2 GT-30s and then theres the parasitic lag of the supercharger... it'd probably be slow as hell, until the last 500 rpm before redline.

I suppose this earlier pic is fake too.

Then this one must be fake as well.

This thread showing a few more pics must be just swimming in it.

Actually I use photoshop everyday, I do a lot of very high end photoshopping and in my opinion the first photo looks like a photoshop, not sure if it is or not, just saying it could be. It looks like there is too much light getting into the hood scoop.

    This car scares me.

Totally badass, IMO. Although there are less complex and easier ways to get 800+whp, it's awesome.

That's the problem with you people. You rely on this software instead of use it to enhance the skills you need to be photographer, so now you're stuck in this "photoshop" world where you constantly question everything you see. Get real, pal.

I applaud the workmanship, but with that long of an open run on the SC belt, I would be somewhat afraid of the belt jumping off either the alt pulley or SC pulley...
