Well, my stock GLI Exhaust fits pretty well under the GLI valence...

Not getting rid of the RCs Tippy, just thinking about LBs as a winter setup.

Lo those many dubs: Too many beetles to count, some wabbits (old school and new), and a smattering of Jettas. Had a cup of coffee with a gorgeous B6 wagon. Now featuring a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited Call of Duty Black Ops edition.

Thanks a lot. The coupon worked. I am calling them now to see what they got as far as the single tip exit on the muffler

Avoid Wards Rd, they are putting in something near Wal-Mart, so bad traffic is now worse.

    Sweet, thanks!

What's up fellas. Got home last night around 10 and couldn't stand the state of my car, so I gave it some lovin, and washed for a couple hours.

Today I took my car over to this guys shop I know that has an open pit. I figured this would be ideal for checking on the exhaust because the suspension would be settled, and I would have perfect access to the system. Well I fixed the first problem, the most obnoxious problem real quick. That vibration/rattle/grind noise was coming from my new c-clamp that connected the resonator to the cat. The bolt part of the clamp were rubbing just a bit on the small crossmember that goes under the cat. Easy fix, was to take it off, grind down a couple threads, and back in business.

I addressed the issue of having the system poking out past the valence more than I wanted. I ended up cutting about 5/8 of an inch off the resonator pipe, and then bolted things back up, which ended up giving me the perfect tuck I was looking for.

Now about the hangers. I got some universals at Advanced Auto, since the dealership was closed. Spent $25 on freaking rubber, definitely pissed me off. Well only ended up using 2 of the 5, so I can return some. Anyway, once I got everything bolted back up again, I was still having an issue with my tips sagging down and to the right. My solution was two fold. Basically it included to pipe clamps. I know it is jimmy rigged, but I have the perfect adjustability now with the tips. I used one on the actual worn hanger to pull it as close to the top of the valence as need be. The other I looped from the hanger over to this hoop-like thing on the undercarriage a couple inches away. This than became my point in which I was able to tighten the clamp and draw it over to the left to center it in the valence opening. It seems to be working quite well, and I have some play with it.

I do have two issues which do not bother me however. For one I have two exhaust leaks. At both connections, at the bottom of the flanges I have small gaps. Couldn't for the life of me figure out how to get the stupid gaskets to seat right, so I am going to get some high temp gasket sealer to fix that issue. The second issue is that the center/mid pipe that goes over the rear torsion beam is now up against the heat shield tight. The reason it is up so tight is because I have the system pulled up so the tips sit nicely. Dont' really know how to get around this, and since it is making no noticable noise on the heatshield, I will live with it.

The tips are visually pleasing to the eye, or mine at least, and it sounds good, not nearly as loud as it was due to the vibration. Definitely feeling good now to have the system in check and my car somewhat clean. Hopefully I will make time for a full detail before I come back to school. If you guys are going to be doing the driveway thing later in the night like after 8:45 on monday I might come over to chill for a little while, if not than probably see you all some other time in the week. Hope the burg is treating you all well. Peace.

EDIT: I also forgot I ripped that freaking heatshield off the cat too, so no more high pitched rattling anymore.

Hey stopped by Terry last night around 9pm. William was there. I got him to adjust my muffler, so it is not laying up against my rear valence. It looks a lot better, and now I do not have to worry about melting my valence. William is suppose to be out there today. I was going to get him to put my boost gauge on. Oh, he did not charge me anything for my muffler adjustment, but I did give him 10 bucks for his trouble.

Unfortunately theres nothing "normal" about making deusches....oh shoot that blake, my bad....tippy is all about the birth control.

I'm cool with a weekend thing guys, but I'm also good with the weekdays, whichever works better for everyone else. Maybe we could actually wash some dubs this time.

  27. 09-26-2005 07:41 AM #167
I've got some "free" douches for ya.....for that "fresh, clean" feeling.

I've also got enemas for ya...In case you needed to do some fall "cleaning" of the tailpipe....

How long do you guys think it will take to do the suspension stuff....if it won't take too long...we "might" be able to do it Thursday...the problem is...my daughter goes to bed at 8:00...so we would have to be done by then...we could potentially start at 5:00 though....I can check with the wifey....

technically, there are people in my area that test the birth control. ( i believe there are 6 or 7 people in the oral contraceptives group) it is certainly not done by ingestion.
its tested using a seperations unit/ HPLC like this:
