tiny bit of cabby progress. mostly good solid planning for the next few weeks. also, coils are here today sometime. so there's that.
I like the idea of "tiguana" but she wants "tiguwaa" and pronounce it Tee-goo-whaa??!!
#22129
Teegoowhaaaaaaa?!?¡
Yay cabby planning! Better have some jobs for me this weekend!
Gtg went according to plan. Except the TT-01 gear getting stripped for the third (4th?) time. But that was my fault, I don't think that's the kind of gripping they expected those tires to do
Good thing I have the ta-05 to dorifto next week if we have clear skies. Anyone have spare TT-01 gears? I'll take it apart to see what number I was using sometime this week
Carry on
#22130
Jon, I may have some gears lying about. Let me look.
Also, Big J Tae's car made me curious to see my car sans roof rack. I kind of like it. It's certainly quieter and we'll see what gas mileage difference it makes.

Heyyyyyaa Tippy....
Any word as to why your suspension was making so much noise???
Do you think it was related to the fact that they were the Solowerks S1's?
Just wondering.

#22132
Not sure, car is gone. Check the AMI Solowerks thread in the jetta6 forum. They say there is something up with the mounts, or camber plates or something that can be changed to alleviate the issues with noise.
The most I will do going forward is springs man, eff coils for me, this left a bad feeling for me with modifications. jUST going to drive this bish....

^^ quitternoises just mean you get to fiddle more.
Like my Z, something's hitting something up front on the drivers side, hoping its just the brake line bracket. I'll be taking a look this afternoon when I pick it up frOm Phillips.
Rapp, I like the look. I'd do the same for the Golf to see how it is, but a naked roof looks awkward on a mk3, especially a fleshy one

#22134
It doesn't look like a huge change just because your roof rails are still in place. Either way it looks good but it'll go back on once you go riding and figure out that putting your bike in the hatch sucks.
#22135
Honestly mike the rack will probably go back on tonight. I think i just like the way the car looks with it better. it's super quiet now inside though.
#22137
Yes, I was truly happy with the looks of the car, even the crappy hard plastics did not bother me that much. I mean, it has climatronic, power everything, beautiful wheels, and mean as hell. I should have left it stock, oh well. You live and you learn. Enjoying the cc though, taking it to myrtle beach next week

I love everything about the GLI. I am planning to lower (vogtland springs) it and then roof rack followed by different wheels. I'll send the pics when it happens. Keep in mind that I am ...ri...dic...ulously.....lazy. So yeah, it will take a while.

If I do anything, probably ebach pro kits, tint, and some 19s. Either black or bronze

Jon, next time call me instead of texting me. I would have been able or made it possible to pick you up or had someone pick you up to get your car.
On an great note. The GLS is now back on the road.

change of plans for anyone coming up tomorrow, I actually have to move the car out on the car carrier and get it out of the garage for the time being. so thats the new plan for tomorrow.![]()
I understand though, Keith is redoing his kitchen and has to store his piano and cabinets there for a bit.
Anyone got a car cover?
Sidenote, front coilovers went in today, had a hell of a time untill I got someone to let me borrow an impact drill. after that it was fairly smooth. rears tomorrow morning or afternoon or something. whenever im not moving the rabbit
#22144
Just throw a tarp over it, no one uses car covers anymore
Tarps are cool now. My old Z wears a tarp
Think I got rid of my creaking noise, though I may have jinxed myself saying that. Now that I'm done with suspension for a while I can put all my tools back and reorganize them! And also get the last bits of sanding done on the front lip so I can throw it back on the Z

rears got done in two hours this morning/afternoon. no problems. letting it settle and some fine tuning to do but I'm pretty happy. Turns out upon further inspection the guy I bought the car back from had cut the rear springs at some point. No wonder the shocks gave out I guess. I'm still a bit surprised considering they were koni reds...
Pics once I get it settled and adjusted.
The rabbit is moved on a car carrier for the time being, covering up this week with something to help keep it safe and sound.
The Tiggy is still awesome.
#22147
If you are serious about lowering your Tiguan, I still have my stock MKV GTI suspension. It has less than 15k miles on it and I'll let you have for cheap. The Tiguan is the same platform as the mk5/6--so the suspension is interchangeable.
#22148
The tigg is 4mo right? So wouldn't that effect it?

Springs and shocks should be a direct fit as well as fsb. The only component that won't fit is the rsb because it's 4motion.

The stock ride height of the GTI is very well suited for an SUV.

asian, you need some new wheels for one of your cars:
