Thread: 1995 Jetta Delayed Upshift, no "D" and All Gears Selected.

  1. 09-26-2005 09:53 AM #1
I recently purchased a 95 Jetta GL. After a week of owning it hre is what it started doing.

    - Wont upshift unless I reach 4000RPM
-Wont downshift if I jam the pedal
-Will not go into 4th ("D")
-After a few min of driving the electronic gear indicator on the dash shows that all gears are selected.

Is this a common problem with a common solution? any help is appreciated.

Bought a Vag-Com. Problem was Vehicle Speed Sensor. Replaced the sensor, cleared the codes and viola! All gone.

Its amazing how easy it is to diagnose a problem if you have the equipment (vag-com) to access the self diagnostic abilitly of the trans computer.
Auto trans fluid change or flush will not make a trans fail. Stop spreading the wives tale/urban myth.
