Yeah, I think I editted somewhere that the BLACK is in Jettas, and the BEIGE is in Golf/GTIs.

My feet are 11.5". Before I did this, it only worked up to 10 steps away. Afterwards, I was able to go 60 steps. I'm not too fond of the imperial system, so maybe someone can convert that to feet

I did this mod the other day and it is cat's ass. I should have done this a long time ago!

True, but now I can push the PANIC button from a distance if someone is messing around with my GTI. Before, I would have to run all the way to my car, push the panic button, then proceed to kick some ass

      LOL, great mod.

If you don't open any doors it will re-lock itself...

Sigh. For some strange reason, VWMod.net went down, along with its photo gallery. All my guides on the site are gone, so I don't know what to do now.

I might have some pictures saved on my computer. If so, I'll upload them ASAP

i did the same thing because i always forget to lock my car until i've walked to the other side of the parking lot, so it makes no sense to walk all the way back to the car to lock it; defeats the whole purpose of a "remote". at most i can make 100ft even with the chin tuck..

the only thing im worried about is accidently unlocking it in my pocket or summat like that also will this interfere with my digital radio ariel as it runs up the inside the trim on the a pillar left hand side (remember mines a right hand drive) also is the plugs behind the glove box or behind the sterring column shroud

If your vehicle is RHD, then I would assume everything would be on the right side as well.

As for accidently unlocking problem, if you do not open any of the doors after you unlock your car, then the system will automatically rearm itself

I did this mod today but I'm still getting crappy range with the remote.

Do I have to cut the clear coated wire? Instead of cutting it I used a wire-tapping thing by motormaster and ran 14-gauge wire along the pilar and along the top of the rear window.

Weird. I don't think tapping would be a problem, but maybe I'm wrong. Try cutting the OEM antenna and connecting it to the 14-gauge and see what happens.

My guess is that the tap isn't connecting your new antenna to the OEM antenna.
