Well winter is fianally here ! and i just picked up a sweet daily driver a 1992 gti 8v in mint shape . So it's off to the surgeon with the vrt .
I've been planning this out carefully for a while now with my mechanic Alex Wentworth.
what we are doing is pulling my vr turbo motor out of the front of the car , boring it to a 3.0 ( je low comp pistons ) and a wrd head with arp studs and a metal gasket as well as pauter rods and a balanced crank.
while retaining the kinetic turbo kit and increasing the boost to around 18-20 psi .
the trans is a o2a with cryotreated gears and a peloquin diff . a spec stage 4 clutch will be inplace of the stage 3 .our plan is to remove the front subframe and strut towers from a 96 jetta and put it all in the rear with a custom half cage to stabalize the car . it wont be easy but it wont be hard ... we want to stay as oem with the suspension components as possible as our final result will to make the gti appear to look fwd

as for fueling the plan is to put a 18 gallon fuel cell up front with twin bosch mercedes v8 fuel pumps . with the gas door being the vw emblem in the center of the grill .
i will update this page as the car progresses . and keep it filled with as many pics as i can
this weekend we will start to remove all the interior and start measuring
here is a pic of the victim in it's current state

not sure but i have acsess to a weighing corner balancer . so if the ass is a lil hevier than the front ( which is more than likely ) im going to put a custom sub box / amps and finish it all off like under the hood of a porsche to add a lil weight .

Stock tranny? Won't all the shifts be backwards? Guess there'd just be a learning curve and never let any of your friends drive, could imagine some serious mis-shifts.
#24
That is going to incredible! Good luck. Just be sure not to rear end someone. Or you will be ****ed.

fuel cell in the front of the car? is that safe? what happens if you crash? (i dont know anything about fuel cells, thats why im asking)
#29
It's a balsy move, but one I have been considering myself.
#30
sounds good, but you'll have trouble holding 18-20lbs with the stock Kenetic turbo at high RPMs... you'll have to put a mans turbo on that sucker![]()
