Forgot I had this on my computer. I don't take responsibility for the work. But I thought it might be helpful because it seems really easy.So I think take off rear door panels and detach this clip and perform operation!

Which wires are we shorting out there?

Hmmmm, interesting. I always loved the one touch up and down on the fronts. Most other cars I have driven in have one touch down but not up. This seems like a real simple DIY too, as long as it doesn't F anything up. I am sometimes leary to mess with the electrical stuff in any German car...

Is this mod to get the rears to come up with one touch, because mine already come down with one touch... I guess I did not realized that until this morning. Oh well.
#14
im pretty sure there's a reason there is no one touch up, maybe for all you parents who have kids hanging out the windows...

my GF's 02 Passat has auto up.down on the fronts only also.

Quote, originally posted by HarvVAG » i wish my back windows would go the whole way down..it only goes down 1/3 way and i get fingerpints all over then from my buddies.. that would be impossible, look at your door, there is only so far the glass can go down into the door, because of how it accomodates the wheel well.
that's why suburban windows go all the way down, but tahoe's only go 3/4th of the way.

It is easy and this method is better than the cut the pin version. Merc comes with all 4 up and down for a while. All windows have pinch protection, mind you it will give a good pinch before it goes back down. Don't forget to hold the switch up for like 5-10 seconds to enable the feature and wrap the wires tight, no slop.

Don't forget the splice method too. get a bit of wire, plug it into the dead hole, and splice it onto the live wire (the one you're jumping in the wrap method) and it's done. That's how mine are done.

Why the hell would you go thru with this mod if you had to hold it for 10 seconds??? your window would be closed by then from you holding it.....

for some reason, i read that as a one time thing... that you would have to hold it for 5-10 sec's after you do the mod, then you're done. but i could be wrong.
#27
Yes hold it for a bit. You have to do this when you loose power as well. One day you may notice that all the windows stop express up or down. The window motor wont be hurt as it auto shuts off.

Yeah, the setup apparently needs to learn or adapt to do this. You have to hold it the 1st time, and then it will start working one up/one down.

Umm,,
Stupid question, but just wanna make sure before trying...How do you take the doors off to get access to that part?
Does the door snap back on without any extra rattling? Thanks
#32
There are 2 screws at the top of the door near the pillars, there is one screw that holds the cover to the inside of the grab handle and there are 1 or 2 screws behind the grab handle cover. The door then slides up and off. There are several connections to the panel once its off. Be gentle when putting it back on.
#33
how do you get that piece off the door? i undid the 3 screws but its still attached in the center where it looks like it winds around.
#34
Couple of questions,What plug is this a picture of? Is it the controls behind the door?
Do these work identical to the front windows? You have the option to go up/down in increments, or you can just "set it and forget it"
Electrically, what is it that we are doing? Jumping or shorting out some pin, but I'd like to know what I'm messing with before I mess with it.
Thanks
#35
The mod as pictured is done on the rear window motor. Done properly it's done on the wiring harness for that connection.Fronts already do this, did you read the thread?
You're not really messing with much, you're just powering another part of the motor, which apparently is the part that controls one touch up.
