Matt, why are you bringing up this thread again? Are you still in the market for a watch? Told ya previously, you can buy my Explorer 2. Actually now is a good time as my watch dealer has a Daytona for me but my wife said I can't have another watch unless I either start wearing them or sell one. Or you can buy that Daytona, rare as hens teeth. I think she wants $14k for it.

In Stainless steel yes. I wore my mates (Stainless) for a few days last year and quite liked it. I don't like the ceramic bezel much (too shiny) but overall it's a comfortable wear.

monaco gay as. everybody got 'em. played out.
try graham silverstone edition or oris have a retro style racing watch out atm can't remember what its' called but the face is sorta oval-ly shape, and has green, red, black details.

also i understand what you are saying that Monaco's are played out but a vintage Monaco from the 70's isnt played out hence why i want to buy a vintage version that just says Heuer instead of TAG

As far as I remember, and this is some time ago, they were going for $20K plus. I bought a re-edition about 10 years ago when they came out and wore it for quite a while that is until everyone started wearing them and they came out in different colours, The Chopard Mille Miglia which I have one is now getting into the same realm as the monaco.
This is what I want next but doubt i'll be allowed to buy it without a monetarily matching 'present' for the missus.

It's possible some of the very early Tag-Heuer re-editions that just had Heuer on the dial, that or a much more subtle Tag- Heuer logo.

Edit: First run of 5000 made in 1998 didn't have TAG on the dial. Black dial

Instead of the Monaco try an original Autavia, Same mechanism as Monaco, get the white face, blue second hand Jo Siffert model, I bought a '71 one 10 years ago and still wear it every day, it's running a nice perforated black leather strap, totally reliable, just wouldn't be game to see if it is still water resistant.

Don't touch the reissue from 3-4 years ago, molto ugly....

Sorry gone. My neigbour (not really neighbour, we live 10 floor apart) went straight to see my dealer after I told him on email this morning. You can have good & reliable... or cheap.

For good & reliable - I'd look at places in the UK like Chronomaster (good) or Heuerboy (expensive). Nick Hacko (clockmaker.com.au - really expensive) sometimes has vintage watches too.

For cheap - eBay

For somewhere in between - I'd join a few watch forums like timezone & watchuseek, and keep an eye out for what you want, and buy from a reputable seller.

I bought my Sinn from Chronomaster, Carrer Re-edition from Watchuseek, & Heuer Tripledate from eBay!
