After six weeks of wearing my speedmaster, I wore one of my quartz watches today. I caught myself winding the crown. Twice. Whoops

Something like this (another one for the collection)

Jebus, how many Omega's do you have now?

I like the pebble too - Looks like it's got a bunch of great features, but having to charge it every week is a bit of a shame.

aye it is a bit deads but given its waterproof I'd say its using some sort of contactless charging so it wont be too much of a hassle to have the charging thingabob next to your bed or whatevs.

    Based on what??

I've got a Tag Link Calibre 36, excellent condition, boxes etc, Zenith El Primero Chronometre movement (1/10th of a second accuracy), over $8k RRP from a dealer before it was discontinued and the most I've ever been offered for it is $2000.. From what I've seen, there's virtually no value in 2nd hand luxury watches unless it's a Rolex or something very rare.

Sadly, the value you place on it is rarely matched by what the 2nd hand market values it at...

^^ I'd have to agree with Dylan. That's why all the pics of watches in this section are located in toilets, because the buyers have just realised how much they have p!ssed away

I dunno, fair based on a good case of denial coupled to complete ignorance of the used values of Oris watches. In other words, I pulled the figure out of thin air

I swear I saw one sell on watchuseek about a year ago for that sort of money. Buggered if I can find it now though.

    Are they re-issues or NOS?

  10. 05-28-2012 06:03 AM #2601
re-issues. They were announced about 18 months ago, but have finally started appearing in stores.

I picked up my 11YO Seiko today. It's been sitting in my watch box for around two months. It was asleep, but woke up and set itself to within two seconds of correct atomic time. I was impressed as it was my daily watch until recently and has never been serviced.

I know that the battery/capacitor can be replaced and I assume that the rotor and any jewels can be lubricated. Mine used to sound very smooth when rotated, but now the rotor moves in bursts so if you rotate it slowly it will go buzz .....buzz.....buzz. I hope it just needs a lube. Mine also has a very scratched crystal.

Love mine too. It's bloody heavy for a small watch.

Any recommendations for where to get an automatic Tag Heuer serviced/repaired (vintage is ~ year 2000)? Mine's long overdue and has actually stopped working.

Was thinking of taking it to the official Tag service centre in Collins St- does anyone have any negatives to say about them?

The only negative is the cost!

Ferntree Gully Watch and clock. It's a one man band so he isn't fast and he is a bit doddery but first class work. I mean I got quoted two months turnaround but he actually did it in two weeks.

In other news, I saw my green sub again today. First time I've seen it since the last time I wore it, which I believe was Christmas. In fact I believe that is the only time I've worn it.

Yeah they have stock, maybe just one, might be a game? Dunno I sort of chickened out today and won't be near town tomorrow, might have missed out. Got home and looked and forum real life pics and I'm kicking myself...

no, that's the heritage chrono, which I like, but it doesn't quite do it for me when I try it on.

I'm assuming he's talking about the new heritage diver (not sure what it's actually called)

personally I think u-boat are the most overpriced pieces of crap on the market.
I'd buy a TW Steel before one of them.

I bought my TW Steel because Kimi wears them... is that wrong ?

But seriously never had so many favourable comments about a watch that cost me only 250 bucks ! Only went the 45mm model though, 50mm is a bit OTT for skinny wrists.

Very Interesting Article by James Dowling (Mr Rolex) on the history of the military divers watch:
