Thread: Steering effort and VAG-COM questions

  1. 01-07-2006 09:22 PM #1
Tried the search feature and I can't find which module I need to head for to stiffen up the steering on my 06 2.0T Pkg 0. My "guess" is that it's Module 44 (Steering Assist). If that's the case, what do I need to change?

Any assistance will be most appreciated.

    STG 44 (Steering) select
    STG adjustment - > function 10

    - > channel 01 (characteristic)
After type of chassis and feather/spring range the characteristic of the servo support is changed (alignment with PR numbers of the vehicle specification carrier).

There is a Set of flags on the openOBD.org site, click the English/American flag

Sebastian posted something on the Steering adaptation, but I can't find it now.

That's what I need (I think). Hopefully your translation will make it to en.openobd.org. I tried Google's translation service - it was different, to say the least.

I appreciate everybody's help. here shortly I'll wander outside with the trusty laptop and code away.

The translation is not in the latest VAG-COM version but I'm fixing this right now and we are currently working on a proper way to provide more detailed english info.

I'd be interested to know if you get it to work. We were told that VW had disabled the adaptable steering in North America due to the overabundance of starving litigators.

Worked fine on several Audi A3, which do have the same hardware as the Jetta.

See "litigate", as in sue in a court of law. The poster was referring to the legions of attorneys in the US who resort to the courtroom over anything, turning the legal system into a sort of lottery.

With the help of folks here and also using some info in the A3 forum, I did make an adjustment (from 3 to 0. Around town, I can't tell a whole lot of difference. As far as the open road, I'll know more about that after this weekend when I can get out on the Interstate and drive for a while.
