Anyone have recommendations for cases, screen protectors, and scratch remover for an Ipod Video? Even if I just think about my ipod it gets scratched. Black 30 G.

    I like my otterbox. http://www.otterbox.com

It's a BIG case, but it's waterproof (to 3') and I can still use the clickwheel. I like it because I am around machines a lot for work, and the otterbox keeps metal dust out of my Ipod. The ipod sits snug in the otterbox, and I can say that firsthand the customer service from the company is top-notch.

I also bought the clear plastic laminating covers for my ipod (they're basically a hard plastic laminate). The only drawback with them is that you need to install them as soon as you get the ipod, oelse you're likley to scratch it all up. One other note is that the clickwheel cover doesn't really stick too well to the click wheel, but I'm not concerned about scratching up my clickwheel.

Off the road... on the mind.

Now that I have the 5gen iPod (instead of my nano), I can finally fit ALL my stuff onto it. However, I have one drawback. Before I was unable to fit any of my commedy cd's onto the iPod, so hitting shuffle songs actually only played songs. Now the shuffle songs option plays the commedy rutines as well. Is there a way to trick the iPod out of playing any commedy rutines when I want the songs shuffled besides making a playlist to include everything else?

Yeah, I think that you can if you down;pad the newest version of itunes, you can set the shuffle to the most probable selection, there are a few options, but I don't know if you can specifically do it that way.

yes, if you edit the track info ("get info") there will be a box to select that says something like (skip while shuffling)

Note, i think that this is only if you upgrade to itunes 7

only thing that would work is to burn the music from other comps to cd, then rip to your comp to add it to the playlist. the ipod can only be sync'd up with one computer playlist. once it is attached to another comp it will erase all tracks and replace so you cant get away with illegally aquiring songs even if they are yours.

Is there a way to charge your ipod through a regular home outlet? In other words, not through a computer or car charger.

What's the best way to play your iPod through desk, or stereo speakers? I'm thinking using the headphone out, isn't the best way, because it's eq'd and amplified. If you're feeding powered speakers, it seems like there might be some sound quality issues that could be fixed with a line out signal. I'm planning on getting a nice video dock for my home stereo. I'd like a cheap one for work, for my desk speakers. It would be nice if I could charge it too. Any suggestions on a simple charging, line out dock for my work desk?

    Any ideas?
    Thanks...

no issues with clarity etc. etc...

I plug ipods into big speaker systems (at clubs and bars) all the time with no problems. Just make sure the cable is proper (nothing expensive just
just get an 1/8" cable one from radio shack)

1/8" Male to 1/8" female and then plug in your computer speakers.

easy... radio shack has it. have fun!

I finally got an iPod and am still on the fence about it. I really hate the way itunes works and they way everythig is organized. It's a huge PITA to have to go through and edit each track before I import it. My biggest beef is w/ Hip Hop CDs where there are featured artists on a track. It lists each artis/featured artist individually and causes the entire CD to be imported to the compilations folder. It really just creats a huge cluster **** or artists. I learned how to work around this(but now I don't know who's featured since I just keep that main artist). But iTunes just blows IMO. I wish there was another program I could use and I wish there was away for me to select how I want everything organized on the iPod itself.

So this isn't a completely negative post. I am liking the fact that I can store a lot of CDs and live shows on the iPod and not have to worry about CDs anymore. Each live show is usually 3 cds and when you have over 800 shows that is a lot of CDs and gets expensive. Now if the iPod supported .flac like a few others do I'd be even happier.

They do that for a reason; It would too easy to give songs to friends who aren't the "owners" of them.

I think there are programs that can do this, though.

If I want to send songs from iTunes to iTines, I'll either connect 2 computers via router or make a MP3 disc that contains all the info.

when you've got your iPod hooked up to your computer, click on the name on your left hand side of iTunes. this will take you to the settings. there's a "movies" tab. you can tell it to sync from here, either all movies or just the selected ones. or, on the initial settings screen, if you are manually sync'ing music/movies, you should be able to just drag the movie in question from iTunes - movies to iPod - movies. at least that works for me

short answer no, i've used a few in the past and have always been dissapointed with them, i've had a few iTrip's die on me and then i tried a generic one, similar quality but over all they tend to be a pita, its really not to hard to actually integrate the ipod into the stero and its definitely worth it, the fm transmitters are fine for holding you over in the mean time, but there isn't one which is better then all the rest, they all have very similar quality

  24. 01-23-2007 06:39 PM #59
I just borrowed my bosses MONSTER fm transmitter, the one that plugs into the charging port of the IPOD and the 12V adapter on my car, im impressed with the quality, its pretty clear considering its competing with all the strong radio signals around where i live. I'ts just like listening to the radio and static was very minimal.

The green bastard gives it 2 THUMBS UP.

Next week I install an IPOD adapter to my OEM deck nice and clean like.

Kind of old but worth a response. Here is my problem w/ this. Not everyone uses their iPod for music that is on CDs. I have a live music collection that is over 800 shows(each show is roughtly 3 CDs) and this is not copyrighted material. It's free to anyone who wants to download/trade it. While I do realize that the large majority use their iPod for CDs that they own. A very large community uses it for Live music that is free to all. The fact that I can't transfer shows from my iPod to a friend's computer irks me to no end.

Just wondering if anyone had Just the Ipod Shuffle 1st Generation (BOX) laying around. Let me know!

  34. 04-05-2007 11:01 AM #69
    Okay,

I have one 30gb video ipod. I have a mac and a pc. I formated my ipod on the pc. Then went to charge it on the mac. And i saw that I could re arrange playlists, etc. So then i went to add music and BLAMO! it added the music.

What's going on here. It is because it's linked up to the same account? is it because i went from pc to mac and not mac to pc? this is kidna weird... I thought ipods could only be used on one computer.

    anyone?
