Ive heard you cannot do it, then I've heard you can...I'm confused.I did a search on Google and microsoft shows steps to take to try to access the video.
I have MP4 video on my ipod that is NOT DRM protected, but when I connect the video iPod to the Xbox I can only see the music.
Any ideas?
Attention! I shoot basketball from the front row. I spend hundreds of dollars for expensive tickets. I smuggle in long, expensive cameras and lenses, and security doesn't even bat an eye. That's right. I'm special. All because I want to sell you a 50mm 1.8 lens so you can be just as cool. Have a good day.

Few people understand the psychology of dealing with a highway traffic cop. A normal speeder will panic and immediately pull over to the side. This is wrong. It arouses contempt in the cop heart. Make the bastard chase you. He will follow.

You all probably see alot of threads like this. But here it goes. After 4 years of good service, my faithful i-pod 20g has finally died for good (already on its second battery and hard drive)
Tomorrows gonna be my 18th birthday, so i suppose the i-pod dieing now was at least at a good time. My present to myself will be, obviously, a new i-pod. Im at a rut, though, as to which one i really want.
Choices:
- New i-pod nano 8g
- Regular i-pod video 80g (80g for 250)
- New i-pod touchOut front, the i-pod touch looks really really awesome. But im worried about its durability, as well as its reliability as its a first year product. The regular i-pod video seems to be a good deal, but i've read that they arent as well built as some of the older ones, and can also be slower and break easier. I dont really know anything about the new nano.
Anywho, convince me on which to get electronics forum!
P.S. - i-pods are the only option for me right now. the reasons are yes, i am an ipod fan, and the headunit i have in my car has a really nice ipod interface on it. i dont want to get a whole new headunit with a general usb interface just so i can get a zune, or any other mp3 player.

I'd go for the 80g video. I think the touch is a huge waste of money.

do you have a mac store by you? You could set up a personal shopping session (free) at one and have them pitch both to you. Whichever one warms your heart more go for it. I'm similarly debating iPhone vs. Touch/Classic + new cell phone. Sub 8 gigs is kind of brutal, but the rest of the features...

Get the touch.Flash memory is more durable than hard drive in the classic.
I was concerned about having only 8GB but I've some serious paring down of my music library. I made a smart playlist of playcount = 0 and got rid of about a gig of music that I never listened to nor wanted to listen to. I also converted most of the files to 128kbps AAC and saved about another gig. I now have room for my entire music library, 1 or 2 full length movies, and some misc. videos from YouTube.
The real deal maker was the Wi-Fi, though. I've been waiting for that feature for years.

Personally I went with an 8GB Nano primarily due to the size. For $100 more I could have had a 160GB Classic... having my entire collection on an iPod would be cool, but I wasn't willing to sacrifice the ability to throw the iPod into my dress shirt pocket. I personally don't really see the purpose of the Touch unless video and wi-fi are priorities.

I've noticed that iTunes doesn't carry certain bands/albums. Is there any way to get album artwork for music that I upload from CDs that iTunes doesn't carry?

Applecare saves the day.Bought the original, a 5g 30GB in February 2006. That died sometime later in the year, and was replaced by warranty. The replacement died sometime last year too.
Just two weeks ago, I sent in the 2nd replacement, and got the third replacement. The third replacement has already died.
I will be sending my 3rd replacement in for a fourth tomorrow.
If anything, Apple's service is awesome.

-p.s. - I listen to my iPod at my desk 8hrs a day, and two hours a day on my commute. I never drop it, I never run with it. It's strictly a desktop/car iPod.Cliff's notes: on my 4th iPod, under warranty, since February 2006

do you jog with your ipods? Thanks for the heads up. I was thinking I could depend on the device for some data storage.

I was going to buy the ipod touch the other day. I then checked out the iphone. If you're going to get an ipod touch, since they're the same $ amount, it's much smarter just to get the iphone. Just my 2 cents.

i'd say if you are already on AT&T and you can deal with half the capacity then sure that's true. The touch is too niche-ey for its own good. I'd say its great for college students. Also good for web browsing on the couch I'd imagine if you don't want to lug a laptop around the house to do so (my reason for wanting one) or are in college.

I hit shuffle a lot and its annoying how podcasts will show up in the music section of the IPOD..... ANy ideas?
#125
Make a smart playlist that includes everything except genre=podcast.
#126
Actually by default podcasts shouldn't play when shuffling. If you look at the options under the file info for a podcast "Skip when shuffling" is checked.

I haven't been reading this forum, but I just recently heard that the iPod touch was hacked and can now install third party apps. Is this true? I've seen youtube videos that people are installing all of the iPhone apps on their iPod touchs after the hack, but can this hack be used to install programs like AIM?

You have to convert them to MP4 format. Try using Videora, it's free and it works awesome.

You can't just put files on the shuffle - you need to use iTunes.
#137
I guess I will try Itunes...funny I found a ipod shuffle ripoff at Frys looks just like it of course not has refined but its 2GB for $39.99 but I'll mess with the shuffle first ....

I have about 5000 song on my 80 gig ipod. I have been moving songs around my computer trying to keep all song on one computer, anyways i was noticing that my Ipod Library shows duplicates of songs, sometimes even more then 1 copy. When i look at my Ipod it doesnt look like there are duplicates there.
Is there a way to delete the duplicates out of my Library?
