I think thats a wise decision, and Mo is starting to show his age a little.

He is?? He had one of his best years ever last year.

Is that because they dont want to risk injury, or because there are so many other better starters already on the roster.

I think a lot of it has to do with injury, but the thought of technically having 7 starting pitchers (8 with Leiter) is actually really incredible. This year there won't be any mad dash or perpetual worry about somone going on the dl as long as the call up/fill has a qs.
But think about it. RJ is gonna be 42 no way in hell we risk him. Pavano, Wright, and Wang all spent sgnificant time on the DL last year so I don't think they would want to push it too hard too soon. And Moose struggled at the end of the year. That leaves Small and Chacon. Bu don't get me wrong here. I'm not worried about anoyones health really.
The one up side to the whole WBC is that a pitcher's arm could be as strong in April as it would in May. It's the end of the season that is a little bothersome.

You're right, that is just silly. He had a 1.38 ERA. 1.38! That's just disgusting!

      Me.
I've got a sig bet goin with Methalius on Chacon...
      12.5 wins
I took the over, he took the under.

I normally don't post up anti-Yankee stuff here in this thread, but I could not let this go. Here is my reply from the Red Sox thread about Chacon (which you and g60rabbit love to visit so much ):

Wow. I hope for the Yankees' sake that their hopes rest upon more than the arm of a guy who in his BEST season went 11-8 with a 4.60 ERA. Wrapped around this gem were seasons of 5-11 w/ a 5.73 ERA and 1-9 w/ a 7.11 ERA. 1-9? Granted, its Colorado, but still, 1-9?
How was last year any indication he could win 15? Because he won 8? He also lost 10. Is he going to go 15-20?

Difference being we are telling you what we "think" he can do, we aren't telling you he is a "lock". There is 0 reason to think Chacon can't win 13 plus games in NY but nothing is a "lock".
"How was last year any indication he could win 15" Well what you copied said he would win more then 12 games but any way.
He won 11 games in Colorado before.
Last year he went 7-3 in NY and pitched a good game in the playoffs.
Yes he went 1-7 in colorado last year, but he had 7 quality starts and 2 games which he went 5 innings and gave up 2. His bullpen or offense wasn't getting him runs. W/l record is the worst stat.
He just pitched great last year whether it was Colorado or NY.
The year he went 1-9 was all out of the pen so obviously he isn't so great in that role.

Wow, jealousy really does screw you up in the head.

Call it being a fan of the concept of an entire team working together to accomplish their goals. I was ecstatic when the Pistons beat the supposed lock for the championship Laker squad. It has made me giggle that the Yankees spend so much money on their roster, and still can't get it done.
Also, the White Sox will have the best rotation in the AL this year. Pitching is what kills you guys. Does Steinbrenner not believe in middle relievers or what?

Not at all......I root for the Mariners, even when they have bad years. (Unlike most people in this area)

I can respect that. However, I think the White Sox will take a step back this year. Nothing solid to back that up, just call it intuition.

If it makes you giggle because the Yanks haven't won in 5 years. Won't kind of emotion do you show when the team you root for has never won?

I don't giggle just becasue they haven't won in five years, I do so becasue they ridiculous amount of money the spend on their batting order and still get beat.
Yes, the Mariners have neevr taken home the trophy, but how long did the Red Sox have to wait? For most teams, the realize that it is difficult to get all the pieces together. Steinbrenner tries to buy as many pieces as he can and smash them all together.

So what , the whole point of professional team sports is to collect the best players you can to compete for a championship each season. Don't be bitter just because your the fan of a small market team and post this crap in here. Why don't you start a "Seattle Mariners Whining" thread and post your complaints in there?

Yea and over the course of the years he has smashed himself together what 6 rings? 4 in the last decade with 2 other trips to the series. What a fool
Like you said it's difficult to get the pieces together. So winning as many times as the Yankees have regardless of payroll isn't anything to giggle at.
