      AJ to the Pirates?

So he's due $16.5 per year for the next two years. How much will the Yankees eat? I figure $10 per.

They should trade him by the July trading deadline. AJ has always performed great during April-June.

They've posted no good details about this deal, except to says its "real' and it "has legs".

Only name I saw mentioned was Garret Jones for possible DH duties......

Hey, maybe they can get Ohlendorf or Karstens back......

Id take a shot on Garrett Jones... but I'd rather they just get back some minor leaguers. Someone on RAB mentioned the Yanks should be targeting Pedro Alvarez. No freakin way they can get him back for AJ, een though they are pickin up salary. He's a former #1, he's young, and he's under control for a while. Aint gonna happen.

i gotta think they get it done before the weekend. the Yankees open camp Sunday i think and the Pirates on Friday so they would want to get it done by then. sucks for players now. the talk of this trade has been going on for a couple of days and will probably take a couple more to complete. crappy to not know where you're reporting to the week you get ready to start your season.

I never realized that...I was always under the assumption the trade deadline was more of a trade window. So I assume... they really want to move him to clear the roster spot and potentially land a DH before the season starts.

I think the rule is if you sign a FA in the offseason you cant trade him until he has been on the rooster a certain amount of time.

If you had him the prior year you can trade him anytime from basically the WS to the trade deadline.

yea its FA signings and recent draft picks fall under a limitation on when they can be traded. i don't think they can trade Freddy Garcia but Hughes, Nova, Sabathia, Burnett are all technically available.

Yanks have interest in the Cuban Ofer Soler... they call him a younger version of Cespedes. He's only 19, so not ML ready.

Clock still tickin on AJ. Rumored teams... Indians (for Hafner, though that is off the table now I think, Pirates (for ? or Garret Jones) and the Angels were said to be interested, though AJ has a no trade clause to them. There is one "mystery team" in the mix? Mets?

some more stuff on Burnett, the Yankees want the deal done by Saturday which makes sense since they don't want it running into camp. also read on Twitter than Burnett turned down a trade to the Angels for fan favorite....Bobby Abreu,

If AJ remains a Yankee and continues to stink the boooosss are going to be out of control. When the fans know that there was a trade in place that he vetoed.

However I dont want him in LA anyway.

More of me wants him gone then wants him to stay. But I still feel like there is something there and that he can be a big contributer.

Im in the opposite camp. They need to dump him in a trade now, or they will pay that entire contract and get very little in return if anything. If he pitches around where he pitched last year in terms of performance he becomes more and more untradeable.

Good interview with CC this morning on the Fan. Says he never even thought about opting out... that his wife would kill him if they left Alpine. Also said he never lets his son beat him at anything, not even one on one driveway basketball. LMAO

So this AJ trade seems imminent. Part of me hates to lose him because he's such an enigma, but mostly I'm thrilled about it.

I dont have any reservations about this. He was literally one of the worst (if not the worst) starting pitcher in all of baseball last year over the number of innings he pitched. If Cashman, can dump him... after THAT season... AND get a team to give us a couple prospects AND get that same team to eat $15mm of the remaining $33mm... Then I'll go out on a limb and say that this is one of Cashman's most savvy deals as a GM yet.

      One more day fellas!

I wonder if within minutes of the AJ deal, which is rumored to close on Saturday, there will be an announcement of a DH signing or either Damon, Ibanez, Vlad or Matsui (in my order or preference)

AJ just doesn't fit in NY. Just like a J.Vasquez, pitches great everywhere else.

He'll be a better fit somewhere more mellow and less pressure.
