Kennedy and Melky were the center peices Texas wanted for Gagne. I am glad we get to see what Kennedy is all about.

If Kennedy and Hughes are in the rotation next year, then maybe Joba can stay in the bullpen.

The only way I want to see Joba in the pen is if he is the closer, and I still think Mo is more then capable for the near futur.
Hughes has been struggling having been off and on with various injuries and setbacks. Like his ankle ect. I can't wait to see him fully prepared for a season.

Hughes will be fine. He's young and has a lot of pressure resting on his shoulders.

but Mo is going to retire in 09,at least thats what he says....
personally,i would love to see Jobe remain in the pen...
have Mo teach him the ropes first hand, let him set up(just like mo did)and then in a year or 2 pass the torch over to joba

as much as its hard to find good stating pitching,a dominant closer only comes around every so often

9am going to the bar, for an hour of open bar, then bus to the stadium, tailgating and food, going to the game, then back for another hour of open bar. All for $100.

I agree. It all might be the natural progression of things anyway. Being that his total innings pitched are so low. Starting in the minors as a starter next year and coming back as a bullpen guys during the season is probably what he will do.
As for Hughes. With all his rehab of his ankle and Hamstring he can't drive the way he normally does so the velocity is down. But this is still a hughe learning experience.

What would be the difference between starting in the Majors vs. starting in the Minors? If he has a good spring training, I don't see why they'd not utilize their best pitchers right from the get-go... They often give youngsters an opportunity to show what they've got. I like watching new ones come up through the system throughout the year, but even so, why not use him right away on a 5 day rotation, then limit him to the same 3-4 innings every 5 days (if it's deemed necessary to put him in the bullpen).

In the minors he would be able to work on his secondary stuff more. Right now he is basically a 2 pitch pitcher because he doesn't need his secondary stuff because guys don't see him 3-4 times a game.
He does mix in some pitches but learning how to throw the secondary stuff for strikes will be easier to learn against minor league hitters then they will on David Ortiz.
Its the same reason that most very good prospects don't start in the majors after 1 season of A ball.

So lets examine where we stand. It's September (the last month of the regular season, duh), and the Yankees have a 2 game lead in the AL Wildcard over both Seattle and Detroit, all the while trailing Foston by 6 games. Seattle is on a long losing streak comming into the NY series, however, the Yankees haven't been displaying great baseball either. Making up 6 games is certainly still possible, but not probable. Yankees seemed to have turned off their spunk and swagger following the 3 game set with the Sox, and considering how close we are to the post season, that's pretty disconcerning. Am I the only one thinking that the Yankees are sorta comfortable where they stand and aren't putting in much effort on the field? Seems to me like the only ones paying their dues are A-Rod, Jorge, Melky, Pettitte, Wang and Joba. I appreciate their efforts, but it seems like even if we make the playoffs, we don't really have a complete team that feels confident in their abilities. This season has been very irritating from the very first day, starting with injuries, then the slumps, then the deficit in the AL East growing to 14.5 at it's lowest point. The recovery right around the All-Star break seemed to give the Yankees back the attitude to carry themselves through the rest of the season, but I feel like they're losing sight of how close they are to feast or famine. I guess a lot rides on this season to either distance or blow our lead to Seattle. Regardless of what happens, it seems like Detroit has found their swing and they've been comming on strong in the past few weeks, so even if Seattle won't be in the picture anymore, Detroit still will be. I wanna know what Torre put into the Yankees breakfast bowl right around the All Star weekend, then give it to them. If we can't enter the playoffs with that energy, we might as well sit our starters and give up for the rest of the season.
/end rant
Anyone have anything to add/refute?

well its become obvious we are not going to win the division,we can blame April and some of May for that...
you can't win the east forever, its impossible....
however,i still believe there is no team in baseball thats better than us when where on our game.....
i think the wiild card is ours, and there is nothing wrong with that
this team had to overcome alot to even get where they are, hell people around baseball were calling them dead around june....

if we can get in and get hot, thats all that matters
i still think we are going to walk all over seattle in this series...

It just amazes me that Seattle got swept in their last 3 series, and yet, I have NO confidence that we can sweep them too. Remember, this was a team that just didn't lose, we couldn't gain ground no matter how hard we tried when we were hot last month or so.

Sure I will add to that.
You think Detriot found their swing the last couple of weeks
In what way??
Since the 17th they have won 1 series. In their last 17 games they are 7-10. Having just dropping back to back series against KC and Oakland.
And yes I think you are the only one or one of just a handfull that thinks they aren't putting a real "effort" in.
You think they are losing sight?? They just swept the east leaders and took a 2 game lead in the WC all in 3 days.
You are projecting your feeling for the team onto the players. I am quit sure they are confident in themselves.
The only team that worries me even just a little are the Angels.
We swept the season series against the Indians. Took the last 3 series against the Sox, and other then LA we are .500 against Seattle and Detriot.
Don't worry so much. Enjoy the playoff push because I am sure the players are
