I saw him talking with Andy a bit in the dugout. Might be giving him the cowboy the **** up talk.

(And yes, I am still alive. Just very busy with my new/****ty job.)

Pitch him every 10 days and he would probably go 16-2.

I guess they played reasonably well while I was away. Didnt get a chance to catch much. Saw Hughes pitch yesterday at least.

The major issues on this team are still here though. Cano is 75% of what they expected. Tex is a shell of the guy they signed. It seems the pitching is coming around a bit but man, the offense if terrible. Maybe getting Gardner back with help things.

you do realize that Mark Teixeira is 11 for 21 with 4 HRs and 10 RBIs in his last six games right?

Or you just check the web for scores in the morning and skip the games ?

Hes still hitting 30 points worse than his career average. He was a 300 hitter when they signed him too. Oh, and hes a dead pull hitter who was having trouble finding his power stroke in a stadium that is tailor made for his swing. 10 days of hot hitting isnt enough for me to change my opinion of him right now. Has he been worth what theyre paying him or are those numbers too high for you to fully comprehend?

Just saying on the list of Yankee problems he is at the bottom and honestly still plays a great first base

Ill give you the defense for Tex, no doubt. ...What's on your list of Yankee problems that's worse than him? I guess you could make a case for a lot of guys. Arod has been a little better lately... but his return on investment is even worse than Tex's when you think about it. Cano... I really thought he's be a top 10 power hitter this year. Its not lookin that way yet. The bullpen has been decimated by injuries, so there's that. ...and the starting pitching... totally inconsistent. I cant think of a real "strength" right now on this entire team at all.

Mark has a lower slg and ops then 40 year old ibanez who ain't exactly killing it anymore. Mark is a MAJOR problem. Not more do then say not having mo or drob. But mark should be leading this team offensively and he isn't.

LMFAO ...I hope the rest of the rotation can keep this momentum going. The Mets series this weekend is going to be very interesting for both teams.

Russell Martin ran into one... he's a guy I dont complain much about, but do they really want to extend him? Aside from his OBP, he's not bringing much offensively. Jorge spoiled us all of those years I guess.

As long as any Yankee catcher has a higher OPS then Montero I am atleast a bit happy

Where are all these young catchers for the Yankees. Any of them ready yet?

Last I heard Romine has had some bad back problems. Havent heard a damn thing about Sanchez though. Baseball reference shows him hitting .302 in single A with 8 HRs and 41RBIs through 49 games.

Yep 19... Just checked on Mason Williams too, he's not playing nearly as well as Sanchez. I havent heard much about Sanchez' defense to this point though.

Soriano in there to close. Helluva game by Nova. Like I said... I hope the staff keeps up the momentum. Maybe even suck-ass Kuroda can put up a QS. I didnt realize the Yanks had one 9 of 12.

Kuroda is 2nd on the team in QS with 6 [1 behind CC] and 2nd on the team with a 3.82 ERA which is only .14 behind CC.

He has had 2 games where he thrown 8 shut out innings and in his last 2 starts he has given up 2 runs in 15 innings.

      2 your 2nd point...I hadnt either [9-12]

If you don't think a 20 plus million dollar player having the same stat line as a 40 year old dh is a major problem I don't know what to tell you.

Marks career ops is 900. This year it's about 770.

He is a 200 hitter with runners in scoring position. .185 rips 2 outs. 319 with no one on. Which is no good for your 20 million dollar RBI producer.

      My questions of the day......

      1) Anyone else worried Mets could take this searies this weekend?
      2) Will Tex be a .290 hitter again?
      3) Aren't contract years usually good years for players? (Yeah, talkin' to YOU Swish!!!)
      4) Will Phil Hughes finally pitch the way everyone and their mother has said he would?
      5) Will Arod hit 25 or more HR's this year?

5 should be enough for general arguing for now.

No. just another series. Mets have been a real lucky team this season so they're just another version of the Orioles. talented but getting the breaks so far this season.

No. if the power stays there, not concerned.

No. been proven that they aren't different from other seasons. crazy thing is that Swisher has been better than he was at this point last season.

I hope so he shows flashes of it but i think the days of Hughes being a 1 or 2 are definitely over. mid rotation starter is still very valuable.

Push. i say he finishes with right around 25. 25 and 100 is still helpful. the big number days are over. sucks with his contract but he still plays good D and doesnt hurt them.

with all the issues the Yankees have had they're only like a game or 2 behind in the loss column to the Rangers. you know, the team that everyone said was by far the best in MLB and could be historically good. everyone in the division is playing well so it'll be harder this year but i still think the Yankees are the best team in the AL East.

      .
I will be concerned as long as he is all or nothing.

Look at his doubles totals since joining the Yankees.

43-36-26 while his HR totals have stayed about the same per year.

IN 09 he had 39 homers and 43 doubles. Last year 39 and 26.

Its either hit one in the seats or hit one into the shift.

His ave, obp and ops all dropped last year and they are all worse that that this year.

As for Hughes I think he has been maybe their best pitcher since May? But he is still start to start IMO. I have no idea what to expect.

      talking about Teix beng.

you could also chalk up some of that to the defensive changes around the league. not a lot of it but its definitely a contributing factor. he probably gets shifted more against than anyone else in the league.

I dont really recall how the outfield shifts on him [the infield is obviously exaggerated]. But even with the infield shift his singles are about the same the last 3 years, and his HR about the same.

He either lifts the ball like crazy of finds holes through the shift with singles.

Line drives seem to be down. I mean he is down about 20 dobles from just 2 years ago.

I would like to see his spray chart. I feel like he has become a stricly pull hitter.

Tex and Arod's contracts are going to show a loss as soon as next season IMO. If a guy sucks, how can he maintain any merchandising value to the team? I wouldn't be buying any Tex jerseys or shirts. So now you have a guy that isn't getting it done on the field or in the stores.

With Arod, he's at least gotten into the top 10 and 20 in all-time stat categories, so he's kinda "done it" and still has some value, but not enough to justify the insane money he'll get to hit 15 HR's a year and bat .260

Really sucks.....age and regression in performance are part of the game, but paying premuim money for mediocre results is going to be the doom of this team.

Ill be totally honest and say... I was in full support of the Tex contract when it happened. At his age, with his combo of offense and defense? The Arod deal I hated from day 1. I was pretty excited by his announcement to opt out and play the market.

Make that 2 runs in his last 22 innings. I believe top 15 in the AL in ERA best on the Yankees.

Yanks 0-12 in games where they dont hit a homer

      Luckily they had 2 tonight

Hughes with a solid start, Soriano 9-9 in sv chances. His deal doesnt look so bad now.

Another clutch 8th inning hit by Tex!!

See beng if you listen to g60 and only talk about numbers you will miss the big picture every time. Lol at Tex being a "huge" problem. If the both of you ran your own business it would be a disaster

Same on all accounts. Teix looks like he might be turning it around. Nice to see him hit that single today. He really needs to get back to what he was in 09 [or closer to it] then what he is today. If he doesnt not only is he a problem now but he will be a total joke in a few years. Same for Arod.

I really like the guy. Sucks that he has been sick for so long

edit to add. Obviously the HR the other day was nice but with all the struggles the Yankees are having with RISP it was nice to finally see someone not try and do to much.

Gardner out until roughly the all star break?

Does Cash get another outfielder or are we going to see Dickerson again?

Now we get to hold our breaths for 6 days and hope none of our pitchers get hurt running the bases

i think Dickerson has no more options so if he gets called up, someone would need to be DFA'd. probably Wise since Nix can play IF and OF so hes more versatile.
