Bingo!
I'm a long-time fan/listener and I'll be the first to admit that since the lawsuit, he's put less effort into the show. However, as motown states, a bad HS show is still better and more entertaining to me than anything else on the radio. Period.
For that matter, many of the 10+ yr old replay's on 101 are better than new talk/comedy-based radio....
Instead of complaining, maybe "all of us" should all collaborate on a letter to Howard stating, "we've been loyal, we understand your situation, please understand ours, put someone back in the Jackie/Artie chair, and give us 3-4 days a week, etc, etc."

Howard has made it very clear he will not accept any criticism. He only wants emails and calls telling him how great he is.
#5535
Exactly... he didn't want to hear anything but ass-kissing. He didn't like hearing that:
-- Losing Artie has really brought the level of the show down
-- Beth O might not be the most attractive woman to ever walk the Earth
-- He's not the best photographer on the planet and he sucks at Photoshop

The SFN was bashing him long before any lawsuit.
I remember him saying it was painful to log into that site - and that was ~ 5+ yrs ago.
Sort of like many who post here - they are going to complain not matter what.
The interesting thing is that the ones who complain the most and the loudest also say they stopped listening. I think they listen the most.

listening to the apr 23rd show. now he's on a huge rant about the lawsuit. playing the news clips over and over again, ranting. ignores the fact that his contract verbiage may not cover this eventuality.
nastybags do you think any critique of the stern show means one is not a fan? do you also believe the show has never been better? i used to love the show, but now i fast forward through more than half of it. the decline has been gradual but steady. the show has never been worse, not that i can remember at least.
someone else made a good point here earlier... howard has in the past turned the show into a commercial for his next gig, and howard has in the past sued his employer for something or another.
oh here's another story on how his career started in hartford (sp?)david hinckley
and really his rants on how he single-handedly brought XM in the fold... i will have toagain.

His rant about the "Talkers" magazine and the "Most influential in radio" list was, just for a moment, a look at the Howard most of us really like.
Yes it was "I am the king" but done in his style that makes it humorous.
But then the gears shifted to Sirius (one company, sometimes two) and subscribers and crap.
Ronnie's blow up at the "Ugly App" guy was good too.
And hey if anyone missed it, you can hear it 49 times now till 6:08am Monday.![]()

For the droid market there is an app called "Fred's Soundboard", there is a good amount of sound clips there, including Ronnie's sounds like Topless, etc.! It has Riley Martin section in it as well.
Once you have that, I'm sure you can record the onces you like and turn them into ringtones.

Looks like we have some new options. One of my subscriptions is up in 3 days, they wanted $159.39 plus $15.62 music royalty fee, so I called and said cancel, they offered $85, I said no, and asked if they have anything better to offer, so 6 months for $30, then when they went to ring it up, it came out to $23.61 and they only have 3 days worth to pro-rate me.
#5562
Oh man haha the first half hour of today's show was great
#5563
yup, typically hamptons howie, can't take ANY negative critiques. i think its great he won't talk about it, AGT talk sucks, i'm glad he realizes it now![]()

So, not sure if you all caught this or not. But over the years, Howard has been very outspoken about how much he hates Ellen. Doesn't find her funny. Thinks her show is unwatchable. Doesn't get her humor. He spent weeks making up stuff about her after she adopted a dog, it didn't get along with hers, so she found a new home for it, only to have the shelter take it back (that was the deal when adopting).
So I was surprised a couple weeks ago when he was talking about his appearances, and how Ellen requested he do her show, but he couldn't. But he said he wishes he could, that out of all his appearances, that would be the most fun, and he so wishes he could make it.
Yesterday, Beth O made her first appearance on Ellen. So it makes a bit more sense. I think he was playing nice to get her on the show. However, they did casually mention during the interview that they (Ellen and Beth) met at Jimmie Kimmel's last part for Howard. Weird.
