Doesn't get her humor. He spent weeks making up stuff about her after she adopted a dog, it didn't get along with hers, so she found a new home for it, only to have the shelter take it back (that was the deal when adopting).

So I was surprised a couple weeks ago when he was talking about his appearances, and how Ellen requested he do her show, but he couldn't. But he said he wishes he could, that out of all his appearances, that would be the most fun, and he so wishes he could make it.

Yesterday, Beth O made her first appearance on Ellen. So it makes a bit more sense. I think he was playing nice to get her on the show. However, they did casually mention during the interview that they (Ellen and Beth) met at Jimmie Kimmel's last part for Howard. Weird.

What you might have missed is that about a year ago or more, there was some controversy about Ellen and a commercial she did, so Howard defended her and said something like, although he does not care about Ellen but he supports her and her lesbian movement and felt horrible that she was ripped apart.

He talked about it for a few days and after that, Ellen either called his house or sent him an email, thanking him and that's when he made up. He talked about her a few more times during his shows here and then about her being a nice person and such.

Hence another hate/love thing, just like he worked with Rosie O.

Ahhh. Thanks for the clarification. That makes more sense.

Now on to Jean-Claude. Good Lord. I almost fell asleep on my way to work listening to that. Howard seemed to try to keep things moving as best he could. I hope Jean-Claude disappears for another 10 years.

Based on all your posts in this thread...you listen to the show more than anyone here - for someone who says he doesn't listen at all. Just admit it already - you're obsessed.

Also, for someone who doesn't like Beth nor thinks she's good looking, you own the post count on pics of her in this thread. Again...obsessed.

I also tend to notice all the haters in this thread never bring up anything good nor any good guests or interviews. Cohen has done what...maybe 2-3 US interviews out of character in the last 10 years yet he says he'll only do it for Howard and the one this week was good.

Call me crazy, but I enjoyed the Jean-Claude interview. It was slow going at first, but he started opening up towards the end.

I think the Sacha Baron Cohen interview was excellent though.

1hr into AGT and its another mediocre talent show with howard stern as a judge, and an annoying nick cannon as a host.

i now remember why i avoid these shows like the plague. i do have to admit the earth violin or whatever it was called with very cool and original. but seriously, they put through that awful rapper and that father daughter dual that is on youtube.

I thought the show was also awful and now I can see why NBC needed Howard more than ever..

I would never waste five minutes of my life watching AGT if Howard wasn't on it,he is going to make this season

Yeah, even with Howard on it, I don't think I can sit through another episode.

  15. 05-15-2012 09:10 AM #5581
I've never seen an episode of AGT, not going to start now, it just doesn't interest me at all. Seems like there are 50 of the network talent/singing shows on now. Aren't people sick of this crap yet?

Well.... The ratings were down 16% from last years premiere. Intredasting.

Surprise: NBC’s America’s Got Talent premiered lower in the ratings this year despite the high-profile addition of Howard Stern as the show’s new judge.

Monday’s two-hour Got Talent returned to 10.3 million viewers and a 3.6 rating, down 16 percent from last year.

They pushed the premier date forward 2 weeks to be on during sweeps week. The show was completing with other shows competing with their target demographic (Dancing with the Stars).

I'm surprised that their ratings dropped only 16%.

I made it through about 5 minutes of the ADD-intravenous Rebull style of edits.

It was frenetic, tacky, and overproduced. Many people will love it.

I've just seen stills, but anyone watching the show noticed the new chompers?

Technically the ratings dropped 33% overall, just 16% in the 18-49 demo.

I think it has to be disappointing overall with how much hype and promotion they dumped into his debut. I guess time will tell over the next few weeks.

I've watched AGT off and on over the years. It's another of those shows which I seem to watch more during the beginning, when there are people to laugh at. Or, to see the occasional act that just blows your mind.

In my opinion, the show has lost something when it lost Piers. He was the bad guy. And Sharon and Howie really fed into that. They gave him a really hard time.

Howard's a much nicer judge than Piers ever was. The only thing I see that comes close to the fun they'd have with Piers, is when Howard makes comments about this being his show, and his stage, and Sharon and Howie slap him back down. But they kind of down play that.

    Same here.

For this week though... I liked the Slash interview and I was pleasantly surprised at how interesting the Warren Littlefield was. Also, I love it when George Takei is on the show.

I could listen to Littlefield talk about all the great "must see TV" shows all day long. Loved that interview! He was directly/indirectly responsible for 12-15 top rate 30-min sitcoms to air for long-term successful runs...something that just dopesn't exist anymore. The Andy Dick story was great! I love the Allman Bros but Gregg is tough to listen to. Slash was great. The Hof interview was very good too.

The procedure was actually Wednesday. I'm not so sure we'll hear anything anytime soon. Other than discussing the basics, she's been pretty hush hush (can't blame her). Howard did say Wednesday that he didn't know how long she'd be out.
