Some info from the 1/23/06 Business Week:If Stern brings on 1.25 million "Stern-only" subscribers in 2005/06...that alone will result in over $50M+ profit for Sirius even after the entire 5-year compensation package is paid out.
This does not factor in additional "Stern-only" subscribers that will join in 2007/08/09.
This does not factor in new advertising revenue.
According to Business Week, Sirius has already gotten their ROI one month into a 60 month contract!
Love him or hate him...you cannot deny the success of the business side of Stern.![]()

As far as I know there is no such thing as a"Howard Only" subscription. So I think it might be hard to tell how many people subscribed for "Howard Only".

I agree, I'm not sure how they can make that determination, I know that when I bought my Sirius setup, it was inspired by Stern but I would not pay $12/month just for him, it's all the other goodies that come with it that make it worth it!
On the other hand if he stayed on FM, I would not get a Sirius nor XM. Now that I have it, all the other selections make it worth it, so if he left, I would continue my subscription, I guess it's one of those things that unless you try it, you'll never know what you're missing and once you have it, you don't want to miss it.
What I'm curious is if they incorporate the sales of Hardware into their profit formula, or just subscriptions?
#114
They calculated that ~50% of all new subscribers from the day Howard announced he's going to Sirius are due to him. That's the baseline number they're using. I'm sure they have a more complex formula to give a more accurate count...like the difference per month prior/after and add on normal % increases...E-Mike...just subscriptions....

There are a bunch of pirate stations broadcasting his Sirius show on regular FM. frequencys. I'm guessing he doesn't want to get in any trouble just cause his uncensored show is getting broadcasted publicly without his concent.

He said that the FCC is not bothering him right now but said that certain people are generating false humors that FCC is trying to go after Sirius and XM on limiting their free speech abilities but again those are rumors for now.

Yeah I read an article last week that some people have equipment with a high powered FM transmitter to broadcast the feed into an FM frequency and people in the area hear Stern live. There were two incidents reported. The owners of the Stations said that the feed did not come from them. The FCC then commented that for about $1500 someone can buy the needed equipment to do that and it's illegal but they said they are not holding Sirius nor Stern responsible for that.
#119
hmmm...i read that Sirius is asking the FCC to crack down on the pirates...not that howard will get in any trouble for his broadcasts. he can't get into any trouble.what i meant to say was what is howard saying about people pirating his show & if he has mentioned sirius asked the FCC to go after the pirates?

classic bit. Is that crap really that painful? Women are insane and or superhuman.
#133
No it is not nearly as painful as he was making it seem. I think he was just trying to make good radio....it takes about 15 minutes and on a scale of 1-10 its like a 6.
