who here 'clips' in ? and who rides freestyle ?

  2. 02-01-2006 12:46 AM #37
Clipped in 99% of the time, unless i am riding/mucking around on the 20 inch.

I have a fixie with 46:16 gearing, it's a roll out just over 77 inches, anything over 30ish kays/ph wants t flick you off. I have to be clipped in on that.

Hey, good choice. I have had a set of those since about 1999 and they are still going strong. some of the pins are missing, but they have not bent and the bearings are still good.

Upgradeitis on bikes is maybe worse than cars. Look out.

I personally would only ride flats.. I use my sasquatch on a wide range of tracks and enjoy northshore type obstacles.. i would be in a wheelchair by now if i had clips. It feels a bit more unstable at the start especially at high speed downhill and you have to work a bit harder the rest of the time. I guess it depends on what sort of style you ride.. leave it stock, see what breaks and bends and go from there. I have only had to replace the seat and tyres so far.

I agree. I am staying with flats just better ones. Im pretty sure the 06 sasq has different pedals to 05 and they are not meant to be that great. Other than that ill proably add a chainguide to the front and maybe change the chainrings. Maybe i just feel like modding the new toy.

These are the pedals on order now v8's are out of stock.

Update. Bike is all go. Have only crashed once so far.

Going to ride manly dam this weekend.

Bike is on a diet so ive bought some carbon/titanium bits for it to lose some weight. Must stop spending money on toys!!!

  24. 02-16-2006 10:48 PM #59
    NOT ENOUGH SCRATCHES !

You need to fall more often.

  25. 02-16-2006 10:52 PM #60
That's a robust bike, I wouldn't bother trying to shave weight off it.

Hey Patty Cakes, you know of any decent aussie sites with for sale sections?
I'm trying to track down a vintage Cannondale...

I reckon removing a kg or would be good for it. They are known to be heavy. It freakin hard to climb, monkey does not weigh much. Am only changing minor bits (pedals, chainrings, skewers, saddle, seatpost etc).

    Try Farkin.net

    What sort of cannondale?

  28. 02-16-2006 11:01 PM #63
best helmet to buy was a giro switchblade - but they dont make em anywmore - try ebay though - someone may have a new one. Or call some bike shops, they may have new old stock sitting on the shelf. I paid about 200 for my one about 6 years ago.

there is some troy lee designs but they are heavy and blady exxie.

netti make a good FF helmet - check their website, I cant remember the name.

    Mam, check tradingpost, or MTBREVIEW.com

    Patty, I'm after the 2nd gen Super-V 1000, with the semi-active carbon rear swing-arm.
Plan on putting some Leffty carbon up front, Magura HS33 hydro rim brakes/booster on the rear
and finish it off with old-school spinergys...
Dunno why, I just think it would look hot.

  30. 02-16-2006 11:09 PM #65
blah blah - too much talk no action.

and ride it with those rice shoes ?

    bwahahahahaha

  31. 02-16-2006 11:22 PM #66
    Ahhh, get fuucked.

    At least I colour co-ordinate....

mikey? don't be a goose! it's a total WAIST OF MONEY, WAIST OF TIME. I had a delta V,... great bike 10 years ago, but not worth it for todays $$. Despite the fact the fatty headset looks mad, it's not as good as proper forks, and old skool spinergy's were a bit of a joke. Plus you'd never want a carbon rear arm. not on your nelly!
If I had the $$, there's only one thing I'd buy, a San Andreas DNA with hayes HFX DH8's, Marzzochi 888RC200's, and a XTR ensemble... (with maybe a raceface) you basically couldn't do wrong... I'm not sure on the wheels....maybe something like Mavic crossmax SL or Sun intense Dh's.... (y'know... for when you are dropping the 'Pinch!).

    Don't be silly Osqar.

You should be able to tell in an instant, from my spec-list, that the only serious riding that one could do on such an exotic, albeit an antiquated ride, is for lunch runs from Bligh Street to Chinatown.

I'll be putting on my Blackspire chainguide on that bike which will also run 1" Duros. Talk about a bike
with a fuucked up identity crisis...
