Thread: O/T Road Cyclists and Mountain Bikers (Merged thread)

    1. 03-20-2006 10:07 PM #211
mmm - this weekend is autoitalia in Canbra - I was thinking of going to Majura to ride on the sunday morning then go to the show afterwards. Now the tough decision.

My bike is getting new Team issue Boxxers put on it and a full rebuild of the bike. Should be PLUSH as the loungechair it was designed to be.

Thredbo pro races are on this weekend so not a good time to go, I think mid april is best. TIME IS RUNNING OUT ! FAK !

Redhill does not bring back good memories.

      oh what to do.

    2. 03-20-2006 10:15 PM #212
Sorry monkley, i was going to post that wasn't I?

Patrick, I would go Canberra if possible.

I have heard the jumps at Red Hill have become rather large of late. There is also Seaforth trails which has been getting a good rap latley for some good lines/jumps, have not been up there for about 3 years.

On other news, damm getting a mk5 gti would take less time than having an italian weld together a road bike it seems.

      Best OT Thread EVER!

but I can't cope. All this trail ride jabber, and then Stu's beautiful M3 gets sold to someone in Canberra.... it's all to much.

I'm starting to sweat and my glutes ache outta empathy. I can hardly stand up, and when ever I walk over a gutter, I kick my heels up just to get the extra clearance....

      http://www.excelpro.com.au/products_colnago.htm

enough change left over for some shoes & pedals.

The bike will be ready mid week - the mech is going to thredbo Friday AM.

Oh yeah - this upgrade will be the 'bestest' upgrade EVA !

Red hill is serious stuff monkey - you shouldnt go. And besides you will need to walk back up the BIG hill to the start point. Without a shuttle ute its a royal PITA.

      5mins of downhill 15mins uphill.

Come to Canbra with me, I need someone to ride shotgun. - Majura is awesome. We could even meet SteveMk2 gti there. My mate there rides xcountry and is pretty good too.

Hmm is that a certain track only? The reviews say there is easy and hard stuff??

Canberra? Hmmm maybe. When are you going down? Ill have to see what is on the cards for sun arvo. (trying to house hunt is a pita)

    8. 03-20-2006 10:42 PM #218
ah well the proper DH track at redhill is not easy - my mate came and walked a lot of it.

There may be bmx type tracks there not sure. We only went for the day.

canbra - I am leaving sunday early ride, go to the show then lunch then head back - we prob get back around 8-9pm. the tracks there are awesome. Its a HUGE pine forest with tracks going from the top of the mountain through the trees to the bottom. Wicked.

Go house hunting on sat !

      Aaron, is sat on?

Pat, im still a maybe for sunday.

I installed a e.thirteen srs chain guide yesterday. What a mission! Cranks off, bb out, then getting it set up with as little rub as possible. Ill be making some noise till it wears in.

Only 8sp for me at the mo! (9 soon) At least no more chain fall off. I crashed on tuesday in cooper park after it flew off.

    17. 03-22-2006 10:57 PM #227
Sat ? hmm what do you want to do? I can't get in touch with Jay. He has one of those e-thirteen jobies on his crack'n'fail. Mad bike.

I'll be up for a ride though.

I have to get some stupidly priced GSD3 tyres for the car on Sat morning, should be done early as possible.

If it all goes to ****, then in the afternoon I'll go pay my money and try to race "a" grade. It's been December since I raced, missed all summer. Might last about 10-15 mins.

Be up for a bit of dirt action, for sure.

EDIT: Monkey, I have every bike tool in the garage, Even tools for those evil shimano bits. Anytime you need anything except maybe a headset press. Let me know.

Can you fit all that in? Car, dirt, race??? May be a bit tight? Im all go if you are free.

As for tools i had to get a bb tool and crank puller. I prefer to have the stuff and do my own work. Only problem in my tiny place. Missus was shocked when she got home and i had bike parts everwhere. Does not understand why i keep pulling apart my new bike.

      So where when ride?

    19. 03-22-2006 11:24 PM #229
Thursday is accounts day, I have entered in about 30-40 invoices for the week so far. So many of these have charged gst on the freight itself, because of the lay-out of the invoice. FAAAARRRRkers, anyway,

Have to do car, no way out. Dirt would be 1st choice, I don't have a downhill/jumpy type bike, so if you want to do some trail riding/slower techy stuff. I could show you heaps of places around Sydney, north, south or west.

Other wise BMX track / jumps could be the go.

If your not into it, I'll go pack myself in a box trying to race, then spend most of Sunday zombied on the couch.

Ill come ride sat, if you want to race though go for it. Or are you putting it off?

Im happy to ride slow/muck around. Will you ride your bmx?

    21. 03-23-2006 12:16 AM #231
ok so monkey - when will you know ?

    22. 03-23-2006 12:28 AM #232
Monkey. No Road Racing atm would be the last resort. If I get stuck on my own in the afternoon, I'll go. Really not fit enough.

Dirt riding I'll bring my mountian bike. If we go to the track I'll ride my BMX.

Some techy type loops would be good, I think Helensburgh is ok for that, haven't been there for ages. Patrick do know what Helensburgh is like? Starting from the area around the tip?

    23. 03-23-2006 12:32 AM #233
Has kabush cleaned up in the XC today? It should be over by now 3.30pm?

Monkey I'm off for a road ride now, Centennial for some laps with the guys. Thursday afternoons there during summer are hard work.

    24. 03-23-2006 12:38 AM #234
no - I am yet to go to helensburg.

That XC track was a farce. more like a dirt road than a XC track. No technical sections ! No terrain, just flat dirt.

Oh I did see one tree stump they had to go over.

      zzzzzzzzzz

Yeah thredbo mid april. Do we need to book accom?

How would we fit two bikes in vr?? If i can make it ill drive as well so i can bail early and come back and be nice to missus.

    31. 03-23-2006 01:19 AM #241
thigh measurements ? I think your on the wrong forum tim.

thredbo accomodation - I may be able to swing something. Typically we sleep at the campsite half way up the mountain. Cheap ,easy, close and good amenities too - I have another two interested parties coming.

Two bikes in the vr is easy, my one on the roof and yours in the back.

    32. 03-23-2006 02:57 AM #242
Ok, monkey. We'll go somewhere for a ride. for sure. Work it out Friday.

XC course was flat? thats normal isn't it? I don't really follow it.

Random pic for you you all.
