No, I dont have Jerry Curls, and I was only just in diapers in '89. I know this is art, I have just never taken the time to learn the history of graffiti, and why people do it in public places instead of on canvas and paper. And why names? Why not words or pictures. Thats the only reason I asked if it was to claim something.

I've always tried to sketch stuff like this out on paper, and Im alright at it. Maybe ill get more into it cuz of you guys. I think Influx might be an okay name to sketch.

What do you guys call the work that is produced? The act of the art is 'tagging' but is it called tag, or graffiti?

Im interested, dont think im trinna make fun of it or anything. I would certainly have to train myself up for a while to get the balls to go tag a train.

one of my recent works! hey Totem your buddy Tad is chillin with me here in Vancouver! This city needs some "Mr.Fangs" smacked everywhere!

  7. 03-03-2006 01:25 AM #42
Totem is mad skilled. I guess hes good at more then putting sick ass dubs together.. Is this a job or more of a hobby? I mean people would pay skilled artists forsure to freelance graffiti.. The pencil sketches are amazing. Everything is so precise, only uses one stroke, with a few tiny construction lines. Amazing work Totem.

Graffiti is graffiti.. its basically an umbrella all of what you think it is falls under..

Tagging is the writing.. no fancy colors just a signature..

Throwups... Bubble letters.. 2 colors max

Strait letters.. regular readable to the joe schmo letters.. 3 colors max

Peices.. semi styled letters not very intricate but having connections from one letter to the next.. arrows and such are introduced here..
    5 plus colors here..

Master Peices.. old way of saying a wild style.. a wildstyle is a complex hard to read peice.
    5 plus colors here..

Burner.. the best you got.. the wildest meanest big bad leroy brown of letters and wildstyle..

3 Dimentional.. or 3D burner.. where the burner is painted with NO outlines.. no finals just all shades and highlights..

    ..my specialty..

i hope this answers some of your ?s..

and thanks, im glad you like my logo. i actually designed for my friend who used to get up in south carolina who also dj's. it was originally meant to be his dj logo. then i said f*ck you, ima use it. so both of us rep it and yeah go ahead, rock the stencil as much as you want..but keep the rastaone out cuz i dont bomb with that name

by the way i live 2 hours south of chicago..never hit anything in chicago..yet

I went to the DVD release of Piece by Piece on Saturday and it was pretty tight. It was nice getting a smal peek into the San Francisco scene from the early 80's to today.
