Thread: FYI: US GTI and Euro GTI Suspension Setting (Camber / Toe)

  1. 03-10-2006 06:54 AM #1
    Just read erWin Service manual
Here is the summary of the difference of US and Euro GTI suspension

    Front:
    Camber: -30' +/- 30' (US) vs -44' +/- 30' (Euro)
Toe Out (at left and right lock) : 1deg 38' (US) vs 1deg 22' (Euro)
    Caster: 7deg 34' (US) vs 7deg 47 (Euro)
    Ride Height: 382mm +/- 7mm (US) vs 360 +/- 7mm (Euro)

    Rear:
    Camber 1deg 20' (US) vs 1deg 45' (Euro)

Actually the US GTI has the same setting as the non-sport Golf in Euro.

Can the US GTI make these numbers when lowered on stock control arms? My previouse R32 needed adjustable rear control arms for the 1" euro suspension kit.

Do you have the US GLI settings?

I'd like to have mine set more aggressively.

Can you clarify somthing please: do the positive toe figures mean
that the toe is "toe in"? On my GTI VR6, I run with toe out and the
figure (as displayed by the alignment machine) is a negative figure.
    Thanks!

Has anyone had the euro alignment specs set after lowering? I have the Eibach Pro Kit installed and have an aligment scheduled for 3/27. I like the small amount of negative camber I have gained in the rear with the lowering and don't want that to be corrected.

Has someone with Eibach or H&R springs had their car aligned? Could you share your alignment settings if you received the printout from the aligner. Thanks!

    Is the camber adjustable?

I am looking for real world settings, not just what a manual suggests.

Did anyone get these settings done on their US GTIs? Is it possible?

I'm looking to get euro springs, I'm wondering if I should get these settings as well... thanks!
