Not making it out tonight.
i will be there at 8. maybe sooner.
the big ring reminds me of the oil cooler o ring. there is one on each side of it I think.
I cant remember the rest.
as for freeze plugs, John knows what to use in there. He had to do his a couple years ago. I will ask him if he doesnt reply in here.
Ah, valve stem seals, ok. M&J rebuilt my head, so they put new ones in already.
Putting the rest of the engine together today, and might get it back in the car if all goes smoothly. Waiting for the oil pressure gauge I ordered, so I won't get everything running, but I should be close. Hopefully make it out to a Friday soon!
Got close today.
Need to know if these holes need freeze plugs though:
Not only once did they blow, it happened twice and on the flywheel side resulting in engine removal each time. The front plugs will have to be "custom" fit with a Dremel or grinder in order that the water pump sits flush and seals in the block.
Well, the REALLY crappy part is that the flywheel is already on, making tapping impossible. Hell, getting a normal plug in there is going to be hard enough.
I tried with four plugs today, 5/8", but decided to pull them out and put sealant on them. They are really tight fits, not worried about blowing them out. I'm hitting them harder than 100+ psi is going to. Going to buy four more Wed and put everything together and start the damn thing. I'm pessimistic enough that I won't even hook up the axles.
If they blow out, then it will give me a reason to do engine mounts.
So that was my original post...and then I got online, bought new motor mounts, flywheel bolts, and a catch can so I can remove the damn flywheel and tap those holes.
Ok, what do I need to pick up to tap the holes now???

It runs! Put 10 miles on it today.
Crack pipe is leaking at the water pump side, and I think I have a boost leak somewhere, but it is purring like a kitten.
Exhaust work Tuesday (taking out the cat), but I'm away for the next two Fridays!
Thanks for all the help guys.
The car is running great! Just need to get my muffler fixed up and a few extra parts from the scrap yard, but no fluids leaking which is good.
I took everyone's advice and plugged those holes correctly (so to speak). They will never leak again.
Nope, off to California, Mexico, and Colorado to see three weddings in 8 days. Then I have a squadron function, then Utah for a weekend to see friends...but on the 3rd of August, I'm there!
Dave, John, I've got tools to return, let me know what time next Monday works for you.
