I went out there last friday and there where 11 cars including myself, not a bad turn out, but........it was 1 Audi, 1 Volvo, 1 Mitsu......8 Subi's......so we still some of the ol' Euro guys to show up some more, or it will be just Subi's....... thanks alot JHayes.....LOL

actually its good the Subie guys are here because otherwise the meet would be dead.
Its odd the Euro guys stopped coming out. I didnt hear any complaints from anyone about the
AZAWD guys so Im guessing its just coincidence that the euro turnout has been low.

I think the Subaru people are actually really chill and nice people. It was cool of Jhayes to invite them out to the gtg. They seem to bring a fresh vibe/conversation to a gtg that has been kinda dead lately.

p.s. It would be nice to see euro cars out again. I hope there aren't any sour feelings toward the subie people. If anybody happens to feel that way.. stop being a snob/brand elitist.

To be honest I think it was coincidence that the euro turn out dropped. I went back to working nights and only have a few weekends to see my family left so I couldn't come.

I haven't been out in a while because work was crazy, then I had family commitments the past two weeks.

Will not be out again this week,

Will be taking my wife out to celebrate our 19-Year wedding anniversary (Anniversary is actaully today).

Time to sell my Golf. Ginster VRT for sale, expect a post in the classifieds soon.

That being said, Alex (my fiancé) and I are picking up a 2011 GTI today.

We've got dinner plans Friday, but we might try to swing by in the new (to us) car.

I'm out of town for 7 months next week, so we'll try to make it to say hello/goodbye!

Surprising, the last time I ran across one in tucson, I may have accidentally kicked his bumper.

Looks good! Why are you going to get rid of the Ginster?

You just did all that work to it and now you want to sell it?

    Thats how its done Mike.
Gotta fix it up to sell it for 1/3 of what you
Have into it. Facts of life.

Ryan, sweet GTI! I want one bad. Maybe in a few years.

    See you all Friday

looks like you'll be in continental ranch.
That is like a 30 min drive as Mike said.
STAY OFF GRANT ROAD. it sucks.

see ya in a few weeks.
We have had a drop in Euro guys showing up lately but I think with the nicer weather everyone will
    be back out.
The AWD guys seem to show up pretty regularly. (subie, evo, etc.)

joined this forum a little while back and have owned my 10 Jetta TDi for about a month now...just found this thread. I'm down in Rita Ranch, but I could probably head that direction every so often, then hit up TCB afterwards

I was wondering if anyone had a VCDS that would be willing to help me change a few things in my car? Wanting to do a few simple things like auto locks, DRL disable, convenience window open/close with the keyfob, etc.

I will try to check this thread often, but if you wouldn't mind PM'ing me I would appreciate it.

I saw this thread and was wondering if you guys are still meeting in Tucson. I just bought a 2010 GTI and live in Tucson and am looking for some like-minded people to talk to and educate myself on this stuff as I am new to this whole "fast" car thing. Thanks!

P.S.... Well, it looks like if I would have just scrolled to the last page and seen how current the latest posts were I would have answered my own question...sorry. Anyway, I was wondering if any of you guys that meet have that thingie majiggie bopper that could tell me if my car has been chipped or not? I heard that there is a download or something you could do to get more HP but since I bought my car used I have no idea if any mods have been done to it or not. I think it might have because I have never driven a car that was this quick straight stock from the factory. Man are these cars fun or what!!!!!????

    Welcome to VW lifestyle!

Yes, these cars can be quite fun, and the community is (usually) awesome as well. The Friday night shindigs are hit and miss on people going, although they used to be huge 2ish years or so ago. Hayes and them often still go.

If you're on the NW side of town, there's a Sunday night meetup at 7-830ish at the In n Out on Cortaro. There are plenty of people there who could tell you if there's anything done to your car, including telling you if it feels chipped. Depending on the chip manufacturer, it's not always easy to tell if your ECU has been tuned.

If you don't know much about chipping, there's plenty of info over in the Technical and Vehicle Specific threads on VWVortex. MK5 and MK6 'chips' are, for othe most part, downloaded onto your stock ECU either through the OBD2/Can-Bus port (mk5) by a dealer, runs about $600. Golfmkv.com and golfmk6.com also have plenty of info.
