Thread: Longboarders!!!

  1. 11-28-2006 10:16 PM #71
    awesome post...

i'm riding a modified cheapo "lightning bolt" deck i got for free on some seismics with kryptonics. I cut out room for the wheels, and shortened it to fit in my Golf.

mostly just transportation around school, and parking garages. There are some crazy (for florida) hills that have seen some action too.

    here's a stupid pic

Added a LongBoardLarry Humu 24" to my collection - SO MUCH FUN!!! It has 85mm tracker darts and 60mm Retro Bertz wheels.

The current collection (excluding 48" homebrew board)

Those are Randal R-2's. Some of the best trucks for longboards ever. Flip the hangers.

Only flip the hangars if you are using the board for high speed stuff. For carving you get better geometry by leaving them alone.

I had to loosen the kingpin a full turn or so and they felt great with the stock yellow bushings. Softer bushings are an option too if you're going for carving

Just had a very long session through all of Baltimroe City today. First long day on the Loaded Pintail. The flex and bounce of that thing is incredible. I must have gotten kicked out of 10 different parking garages.

bahh, not that there is anything wrong with sector 9, but there are ALOT more companies out there with nicer looking/riding boards.

^the only reason i (and perhaps others) have beef with sector nine is b/c they put ABEC 3 bearing, not so good trucks, and charge the same amount as other companies who's boards come with Randal's and at least ABEC 5's. but hey that's how you make money....

    Parking garages are my favorite.

    X 1000000!!!!!
the best are the garages that continuously go down and conveniently have the elevator in your direct path. me and my buddies have a contest every time to see who can get down first and hit the button while still moving/ on the board. good times, rain or shine!

Yes! I have a Flex 3 loaded pintail and love it to death with Randal 150s and 78A Flashbacks/Biltins. AWESOME in parking garages!

Does anyone get really odd looks from people when longboarding? I used to skate regularly to and from class until it started snowing, but people looked at me like I was from Mars.

Oh well, doesn't stop me from enjoying it.

I've got a Sector9 Supercruiser deck, Randall 180s, Swiss Bones bearings and Sector9 76mm wheels.

thanks for the comments on my boards, the Humu is super fun! I bought it to take to Hawaii and it was perfect for the job. The rocker feels awesome on a board that small.

I have 2 new boards since that pic too..

And the home made boards (one for me, 2 for buddies)

LBS, you make those! Some premium work man. Demensions?

This isnt really a long board but I am super stoked on my new slalom set up. Didn't hit any cones last race, woooo!

Because of that set up, I am broke.

That is a sick Slalom board

Thanks for the comments on the homebrew boards - they aren't perfect, but look pretty decent. I made them 51.5" x 9.5"... good fun cruising size, nice for cross-stepping as well as speed.

Hey Jason! I can't wait to start longboarding. I hurt my ankle so bad skating last year that this year will be all about the cruising
I just ordered from bustinboards. I got the complex karma. White background, black trees and red butterflies. It also got revenge trucks and the red avalon wheels. I can't wait to get it! It looks so sick

    Revenges! Prepare to surf!

A lot of people don't like the Revenges because they are so turny, but since you're a skater already, I'm sure you'll love them! They are soo much fun. No good for speed though.

Of course, it's a bit dirtier now and I've replaced with the rock hard stock bushings with some soft Bones Hard Cores. It carves beautifully now.

I'm really interested in getting into Longboarding very soon- I could probably search a bit on the 'tex or on google or something to get a better idea, but what do you guys reccomend for a board? I'm pretty interested in one of these:

    It's a SurfOne Classic, which I found on thelongboardstore.com

    8 valves of pure hell...
