    As for the Scirocco, the only way I've heard of anything remotely close to that was a proving grounds VR6 surf green car, no VIN that was sold stupid cheap, but could NEVER be registered for use on the roads.

    I can vouch for that. When I worked there it was our beater 'shop' car we used to get around the grounds. Myers' and I took it out on the off road course one night and beat the crap out of it! We also swapped some parts off of it too. Ended up selling it for $1 to someone who ended up using it as an SCCA car or something of the sort. He ran it a few times when he first got it and found out it was only running on 5 cylinders. Still won his races too.
