The dash light on my '86 Jetta is out. The clock light works, and when I adjust the brightness it works on the clock. All the fuses are fine. I am pretty sure it's just the bulb.

I don't want to mess up the enitre dash trying to get to it. What's the easiest way to change the bulb? I'll take another look at it this evening and see if I can figure it out, but if anyone knows, that'd be great.

you have to take the eight screws from your bezel out( 1 behind your headlight switch,1 behind the the middle lower blank, 3 behind the heater control, and 1 if its still there where your radio is then two that go up where your cluster is) then just the two screws that hold the cluster in

Ok, so I got that part off, and I was able to get the whole thing loose (with the odometer and stuff), do you know how I would go about finding the bulb and replacing it? I couldn't seem to figure it out. Thanks for your help.

there are 2 bulbs on the back, on the top, in the white part of the cluster. you cant see them in this picture, but they are right on the other side of the cluster on the top.

Ok, so I got the cluster out, and took the bulbs out. I went to my local napa auto parts, but wasn't really hoping for much. They didn't have any. Where can I get these lights?

On the base of the bulb, it says "Osram" with "12/1.2" underneath that. I googled it, and came up with this:

      http://www.topbulb.com/find/Pr...45572

Is this the same bulb? It looks like it, but the picture is really small.

That appears to be the correct bulb from the tiny picture.

It's only $3 each, so I will go ahead and purchase two. Thank you again for your help, I really appreciate it.

ordered 12 of them from my dealership last year. $1.75 a piece. Oh, and there are 3 of them in the cluster, you should put 3 fresh in wile you have it out, otherwise your clock may burn out right after you put it all back together. (had it happen before, now if i see a MK2 with even 1 cluster bulb out i replace all 3)

      /Bill
