Thread: What's the last album you listened to in its entirety?

  1. 07-29-2006 01:43 PM #1
In this age of digital music, it's easy to just put your player (portable or computer program) on shuffle and just listen to individual tracks, skipping when you're not in the mood for something. It's one reason I'm reluctant to even get a portable mp3 player, fearing that it may take me even further away from listening to entire albums. In the car however, I usually listen to albums (especially now that my CD player doesn't play mp3 CDs).

So, what's the last one you listened to all the way through? Interruptions are ok, for instance you started it on your drive to work and finished it on your way home, etc. Just something a little different from the "what are you listening to right this second" thread.

*edit* I'm going to follow fueledbymetal's example and include album art, since IMO it's a very important part of the album experience. Even though some covers suck, i.e. this one.

    Seaweed - Actions and Indications

Although I have some MP3 singles downloaded onto my computer (no ipod), I've always listened to albums.
In fact, I hardly know the names of individual songs from most of my favorite albums since I listen to the whole thing as a single piece.

    In the car right now:

The Fiery Furnaces - Blueberry Boat
Cibelle - The Shine of Dried Electric Leaves
    Lou Rhodes - Beloved One
    Zero 7 - The Garden
    Heather Duby - Heather Duby
    Higgins - Dear Higgins
    Sufjan Stevens - The Avalanche
    New Pornographers - Twin Cinema
    Muse - Black Holes

I'm with you for the most part. It's only lately while at the office or at home surfing the net, that I put it on shuffle. Even then I don't pay attention to track names too much.

The last album i listed to entirely was Rick Springfield's Rock Masters album, which includes his old hits from the 70s. A lot of these songs sound old, but catchy. For instance, I really love "Free And Easy" becuase there's nothing complicated about playing 4 chords in a song, and making it rock. What do you guys think of his music?

    In Flames - Come Clarity

I swear I am add though, so listening to a full album is a rarity, I am always changing tracks like 1/4 of the way through a song

i was falling into the same trap by being entirely digital (whats a cd?) ....... i was never listening to full albums.....jus' relying on the shuffle feature. interestingly enough, jus' so happened to start listening to entire albums again. You sometimes miss the "big picture" if you don't hear the whole thing.. It's like not watching a full movie.... skippin' through, only watching your favorite scenes..
