    Thread: 2000 VW VR6 Jetta CEL - Code P1116

    1. 08-02-2006 12:03 AM #1
      Hey all,

Having an issue with my girlfriends Jetta. Its throwing code P1116 on a standard ODB-II reader. Obviously not a VAG reader and I was wondering if there is a common occurance with that code. I've read on these forums that occasionaly a standard reader will give you a false code.

Should I just take it to the dealer and pay the money to get the real code read? I found one good hit on this forum:

She is having the same issues with fuel consumption as noted there. Guess my question would be for your dub guys, should I go ahead and erplace the front O2, and if so, where would you suggest I pick one up at for the best price?

      Thanks
      Joshua

Sounds like you need a new front 02. You have a 12v tho not a 24v, and I dont know if they use the same front O2 sensor but if they do its gonna be pretty expensive. I think the front 02 for a 24v is like $300-400 for the part. I am not sure if the 12v uses the same one though -- but since its a MkIV it is a wideband soooo I am guessing it is the same (or very similar sensor).

      Was that the only code?

Hey - thanks for the reply. I didn't realize it was in the wrong forum, thanks for the heads up.

      That was the only code.
Whats the best place to look for a front o2?
