Thread: BBS center cap

  1. 08-08-2006 03:51 AM #1
where could I get BBS center caps for my 04 GLI stock BBS rims? do I just go to the parts department in the dealership and ask for some? By the way, are my stock rims called "BBS RC"?

another question, I'm very new to cars, and VW and VW forums...um...I don't mean to sound stupid, but whats 337? and why do people say 'ttt"? what is "ttt"?

so sorry...i'm very new...i'll keep you guys posted on some problems I already have with my car...

Are you talking about the entire center cap? If you are then yes. The reason I ask is because the "VW" part of the cap is replaceable with one that says BBS on it, like the one in this pic, the VW center of the center cap is polished in this pic

A 337 is a special version of the GTi sold to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the GTi in Europe. From the FAQ at the top of this forum http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1523544

ttt means "to the top" as a way to get the thread back on the 1st page of the forum

the main thing is i just wanna replace the VW emblem with that BBS emblem you have there...I don't really wanna replace the WHOLE center... I read in a post that the center cap comes in 2 parts (as I see on ur picture), so does that mean, I can just take off that VW emblem and stick the BBS emblem right underneath in there and put both parts back on the rim?

another thing is...can I get a good picture of someone who has done that...replace their VW emblem in their center cap with a BBS one...I've seen it on a "337" but I havn't really seen a GLI that did that....

btw, I called today for BBS center caps for the 18'' 04 GLIs from the dealership...that man told me it was $59 plus tax and they had none in stock so if I preorder today, it would come in Thursday (August 10th)...I wonder if I should get it...anyone have feedbacks?

And thank you for telling me what 337 was... I had a friend with a 20th anniversary GTI...it was imola yellow...is that what you call a 337?

    ttt...

as far as the centercaps go, many of us got them from tirerack.com as I recall they were 12 bucks each. they are not listed online. so you will have to call and ask. good luck

  10. 08-08-2006 04:44 PM #10
dont mean to jack your thread or anything but didnt see any reason to start a whole new thread on center caps... just wanted to see if there was a way to sorta lock the center caps in so they werent so easy to steal. someone could just walk up to my caps and twist them off....

i'm sorry crazywayne, when I called I didn't ask for the shipping total...I just figured out that I couldn't affort it yet ...

Not real CF, just "simulated". Looks good though. Get the removal tool at the same time, much better than the box thingie in your trunk. Maybe that helps justify the shipping a little. Oh and the BBS full valve stem caps. Suddenly we're pushing a Benjamin. 'Tis a sickness I tell you....

didnt you already post this once? anyways...great idea! if i still had my RCs, id take some time to copy you

That 'ring' at the top left of the picture... I need a new one for my RC's. Old one was just a little loose and is now missing... Anyone with an idea where I can buy a replacement? Or can someone fabricate one for me? Not really looking to replace a whole center cap just for that single ring that I can't find

    Thanks in advance

Yeah dude sounds fair in today's market. I found a thread that was from 3 or 4 years ago here regarding BBS centercaps and everyone seemed to say they were like $10-$15 a cap.... Now if you try buying one center cap its like $20-$25 and in some cases $30 each depending what kind.... Anyways.. just thought I'd let you know since I just bought some centercaps as well for like $20 a piece and with all 4 plus tax n shipping they were more than $100..... so $102 for all 4 with shipping sounds reasonable... JLYK...
