oh cool that's close, i'll prolly go if the gti is done

  12. 05-11-2009 02:42 PM #8797
i might go check out a 1998 a4, 1.8t with 165k miles. sport package, timing belt replaced and engine has been rebuilt under warranty $3900 obo. claims to have service/maintenance records.

is this car a good candidate for a daily driver? i know NOTHING about audis, and the b5 forum is a bunch of nazis. i made a post asking about buying the car and they blackholed that isht. even though their FAQ is garbage. /rant

i'd say thats a good deal.. its hard to find a 1.8t for that price

From experience, I personally wouldn't get another pre-owned turbo car for a daily driver. There is so many more factors that come into play with a turbocharged car than with a n/a.. especially with those miles.. I'd go with the 2.8.. thats just me.

  14. 05-11-2009 03:06 PM #8799
yea that was my main concern. guess i'll keep looking. no idea wtf im going to get at this point

Tell me about it. The Mod for the B5's, I won't say his name, has a total god complex, and all they care about on that forum is being so stupid low that they break oil pans everytime they run over a penny.
Audis are good for high-mileage daily duty. Comfy, quiet, and since yours is a 98, all the kinks of the 96 & 97's were worked out by then.

I love my little B5 for daily driver duty, and the weekly 280 mile round trip. And, the boot is big enough to fit my long guns without putting the seats down =D
'99 A4 1.8t quattro, sport package, with 130,000+ on the clock... love it so much it makes me double guess my 03 GT sometimes! =O

Still no word, everything is fixed, except what I sent it in for.
Could have saved my life though, the ball joint went in the parking lot while they had it, I had been doing 120 on the highway two days prior.

Is Eurogasm gonna be a big show? or a small local one? Who's going? I might ride with someone instead, if I don't finish the GTI.
