Thread: Hood latch doesn't lock

  1. 08-16-2006 10:27 PM #1
I posted this in the the technical section but I really want to figure this out today. I'm installing a FMIC and I loosened the hood latch and removed the grille. Now I can't get the hood to lock into the down position. Seems like no matter how I adjust the latch, the little red handle just pops out and the hood just bounces(though semi-locked). Please help!

try to move the latch or make sure the hood is lined up corectly, i had the same problem with me cf hood, but i just had to adjust the latch.

Thanks, that's what I was hoping. I'll just keep trying.

I tried to run over some a**hole who wouldn't move from in front of my car(jumped out of his giant 4x4 to rage on me), he ended up on top of my hood(too bad it wasn't under my car) now it's cocked a bit but thank god it doesn't do what yours does.

Try pulling the latch toward you or away if not adjust it like was previously said, I am really considering an audi tt latch swap.

Try loosening the three bolts in below the latch behind the grille. Once those are loose try pulling the latch up and while holding it re-tighten them.
