Thread: SOUTH FLORIDA GTG #15 (warm up thread)

  1. 08-17-2006 12:48 PM #1
as the title states I have decided that it is best to start early this time around and start to let people know about our little gtg i know i am a newb in comparison to some of the sfl dubbers that have been around for a lot longer than i have, but i can assure you of one thing after attending this event twice i cant wait for the next one even more once its done.

    hope vortex doesn't mind

midnightbluegli is really eager about the next SFLGTG and he speaks from an unofficial position. Information coming from the following screen names can be considered 'official': twolitrevw, zackiedawg, punisher89, jetrick, nate dogg, senattor, ROCKnRLR.

This is the time of the year when we start to gear up to plan the next event. We want the event to be back at Markham, we will work towards that. As info becomes available, we will pass it along.

From #8 to #13 the SFLGTG has been at Markham Park. This year's event was at Amelia Earhart Park. So, what park don't you like, Markham or Amelia?

#13 was the only SFL GTG that I have been to - it wasn't what I expected.

Don't base your opinion on last year. I know the guys organizing this event had more on their mind than this, if you remember at the end of 2005 we had some major storms roll through South Florida. My thoughts would be more on my family than a GTG. All in all for what they had to work with if was a good event, not quite as big as the past few but good none the less. I am sure if they stay storm free this year the event will back up the standards it was a few years ago if not better.

Thanks! Our main problem for the last SFLGTG was not having a venue. We were lucky be able to host it at Amelia Earhart. It wasnt the best of venues and the costs climbed up, a lot. After the President's Day fiasco at the last SFLGTG at Markham, we know not to schedule it for President's Day. If you guys want to revisit the fair, go to Markham on President's Day weekend!

i hated the dirt pit it was at last year, what ever it was called. just seemed like a lot of the people there carried the same attitude they do here on the text. just wasnt my cup of tea being an older vw fan.

when my girls used to do them it was a $300 pot provided by the venue, with 1st taking $150 2nd $100 and 3rd $50. Usually had between 5 and 15 girls involved.. Water, ICE, baby oil, and lesbian action were common "accessories" on the stage to win the crowd over...

oh, and here's some crazy ***** that almost fell off the stage trying to grind with her friend...

I've got more pictures... but you know how the vortex isss

Sadly there aren't very many earlier cars involved in the scene down here, a visit to one of the weekly meets will show you that. A mk3 is considered aincient to most people here and a mk1 might as well have a long flowing mane and a twisty-looking horn growing out of its head b/c they are basically like unicorns around here. Therefore the burden of bringing good examples of the older cars falls on the people who live far away and most people do not want to drive their older cars long distances b/c they are not fitted with the modern day amenities like new cars and they tend to break more. The geography of Florida doesn't help with us being so far away from everything, I'm sure this isn't a problem in the more tightly packed states up north.

Your friendly neighborhood used car salesman.

Well... where ever the show ends up being I am down. I need another excuse to fly back to the states, and well... totally worth it. Besides nothing is better than going back to Belgium with a tan and a BIG smile!!

Oh and a contest of that kind would be a great way for a 15th anniversary.
And how about blue shirts as a tribute to the tarps. I remember reading something about it last year.

    I used to rollerblade.

yeah it always makes me laugh when people here call a MK3 "Old School" !!!!!

come back when you're driving an aircooled, depending on the year I may consider it old school
