Cool post, I think. What does "Incrementality: 100%" mean for the diesel, as opposed to "Incrementality: 10%" for the Wolfsburg. Also, is this saying that all diesels will have the stupid/ugly (IMO) rear lip spoiler?

Was looking forward to a new GTI until VW "packaged" me out of the market. Not sure what's next...

So the special edition diesel will cost about $1685 MSRP more than the current Package 0 2006 Jetta TDI, and will have far fewer color combinations available. There is added content: Heated seats from Package 1, Trip Computer from Package 2, fancy steering wheel, higher end stereo w/ Sirius, rubber mats. Are these features worth the cost rise, or is VW pumping some extra margin into cars they think will sell themselves?

I hope VW is very successful with this car, but I won't be a buyer even if I am getting the itch for a new car. The limited colors really bother me - I like white but hate beige. Next would be Shadow blue or red, which are not on the list. Oh well, I think I'll try to get another couple of years out of the mighty VR6 (paid for and I get 30+ MPG) and see what's available in 2008. Maybe by then I can get a TDI Jetta wagon, Rabbit, or even a next-gen Polo.

    No.

It's the name of the special edition. Just like they named all the other special editions:

    Jetta Trek
    Jetta K2
    Jetta Pacific
    Jetta Trophy

    etc, etc.

The Wolfsburg should have sport cloth seats. Then it would be the perfect car. Oh yeah, and a rabbit front end. And, come in shadow blue. Oh the memories. I loved my 01 Wolfsburg.
