OMG I WANT 1 IN BLACK PLEASE...![]()

New VW sports car design: Like the first Scirocco with its visual straightforwardness the Iroc also marks a stylistic turning point through its progressively designed radiator grill and a distinctive sensuality of forms. The concept of both Volkswagens is closely related, even though the vehicles are separated by over three decades: The first generation Scirocco was an attainable dream car for many people. Because the Scirocco was an automotive superstar of the 70’s, styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro and equipped with four full-fledged seats, a proper trunk, large hatchback and a lot of self-esteem. The Iroc concept takes up this fascinating idea again.

I like the name, it's an integral part of the word Scirocco, and it evokes thoughts of this:

They've done studies you know. 60% of the time... it works every time.

That's awesome.![]()
Looks remind me more of a Corrado though.

First thing that comes to my mind is "Mullet" when I hear the name IROC.

IMO it is kinna pointless to talk about this car yet since it is still a concept. The body lines are gonna get toned WAY down, it's gonna get VW's N.A. lift kit and balloon tires. I think the name very much needs to change though.
#14
I like it but I would prefer a monochrome look. The front end pieces and lower trim should be the body color. "Sporty" to me means monochrome like an s4. Large black lower trim means pedestrian or offroad wannabe like an Element or allroad....I have to admit the shape of the side skirts give it a nice stance in black, though.

This looks more Scirocco'esque:
Could also pass for a Corrado too...

I was really looking FW to a swept back hatch, not a lower GTI with less usability that more resembles the front of an EVO and the rear of a C30.
I'm very disappointed in the design and felt the various sketches preceeding it were more different and effective for a 'coupe-like' replacement for the Corrado/Scirocco.
I also post on BDFD.com

NOT diggin the front....and NOT what I would trade my Corrado forWas hoping for atleast a car to resemble all the "sketches" that his been floating the web these couple of months

Oh well....no need to spend more money
my Corrado will grow better in time

why!!! i was really hoping for a fastback just like corrado/scirocco, not just a GTI with lower roof and tapering rear end (like volvo S30)..... if this indeed is the final direction for the production car coming soon, it is a HUGE blow for volkswagen. i am sure the car will look very good in person since it seems to have a good proportion, but the body type and rear end design really throws me off... crossing this one off my 'future car' list...![]()
oh wait...i hope VW is doing the same thing as how Audi unveiled TT...shootingbrake first as a teaser concept, then walla. the rear thing!!

ditto..first thing i thought when i heard the name...whens chevy going to sue? anyways...car looks amazing...not sure about the TSI..I think a car like this needs more like 250 - 275 hp...I say give us a higher out put 2.0, maybe a turbo'd I5 or the 3.6....

Front end looks a bit like the Evo X concept, and the rest of the lines carry a lot of the shooting brake vibe. A3 3 door for the US?
Am I seeing some Citroen and Renault influence here? Franco's! Sheesh!
Love the exterior...The honey comb air vents are to much of a good thing carried over, the floating center console could be better integrated, and I am not a big fan of the Battlestar Glactica cluster pods
Would love to see the seats make it in a 2 tone charcoal and anthracite with maybe a body color match stitch...this car in a similar CSL Nimbus Grey would be very nice looking!
Oh and can we get the GTi/.:R32/6 steering wheel while I am making a wish list!?The name makes me shiver in a cold sweat though...I can only think of the Scorp's at volume in a pair of Z Cavarechie's, white Van's and a pink tank top cruising Lynwood for big haired chicks! (smacks self to wake from the nightmare)
Cheers!

so, a GTI with a lower roof and probably 10K more expensive? hmm, ok.![]()
#32
Am I the only one who noticed (or at least mentioned) that the license plates that actually read SCIROCCO? Might this indicate a return to the old name, a la the "new" Rabbit?Whatever the name, I'd prefer a four-door GTi/R32/R36 for the subtle looks.

Does that really look anything like the GTi? besides the fact that its 2-door and has a hatch? thats like saying the Corrado and the Mk3 Gti were to similar to have 2 2-door hatches in the VW lineup
#34
The big difference is that the corrado/scirocco is a lift back hatch or slant back or fastback however you want to call it. this is a traditional hatchback. this will compete directly with the GTI, unless this can go to show that VW will discontinue the GTI when this comes around....

sorry, I didn't mean it exactly like that. What I mean is they should make it basicly like VW's version of the TT. The looks are fine, it should just have more "sport" then the GTI.Also, the Corrado and Scirocco were lift backs, this is a standard hatchback. It's just TOO close competition wise with the GTI imo.
I wonder how much it will weigh? But I guess back when it was out, the GTI and rocco were very similar anyway. hmm..
