Looks good! I think I am jsut goign to suck it up and fill my hatch. I'd be a little concerned about the temperature of the amp though in the set up. It's closed in all the way around without much room to spare.

A couple weeks ago I stopped by Tweeter and they went over what they could do, and I liked their ideas so I decided to let them have a go at it. Nice thing about them is their good services (had a similar set up in a previous car, and when the sub blew they replaced it immediately, no questions asked) and long warranty (5 years). I didn't have time right away to go get it all done (was trying to change out the springs and shocks at the same time), but I figured this week would be good while I am waiting on Koni to send me a replacement for a defective front shock. I dropped off my GTI to Tweeter Wednesday night, and picked it up this evening. The sound is excellent.*
I am not a big audiophile, but I knew JL has a good rep so I went with their products. I wasn't interested in anything ridiculous though, so I went with modest components. The sub is a 10 inch, 300W unit. Product code is "10W3v3-4." The amp is a JL Audio 250/1 "Class D" amplifier.* I have no clue what that means, but figured I'd let any of you guys that know this stuff know what parts I used. The enclosure itself is a custom fiberglass enclosure.
So far I am really happy with it. It looks basically stock, but the sound is so much better. The factory system was already extremely clear, so I didn't change out any of the (10) speakers. However it didn't have a sub, so the base wasn't that deep. This fixes it, and then some. The guy said it will take about 20 hours of play time before it really settles in, but as far as I can tell it perfect already. I actually turned it down below the "mid level" setting.
Anyway, here are the pics...
First shot is a "closeup" of the complete system:
Next is a shot of the hatch with the floorboard out so you can see how it sits:
And last is a shot with everthing closed up, looking nice and stock:I am extremely pleased with how it turned out. It may sound silly, but one thing I wanted to do was make sure I'd still be able to use the cargo net in the hatch. Its one feature that gets used on a very regular basis, and I didn't want to lose it. These guys did a great job. Big thumbs up to Tweeter!*

The guy that installed it said that the amp should barely be working to power up such a small sub, and its also got really large heatsinks anyway. Worse case scenario, if it overheats or causes any problems they said they can make some cutouts on the floorboards and install little ventilation fans.

They did do a good Job.
To answer the questions:
The shop I had it done (Tweeter) is in Deptford, NJ. I think they are a large chain though, so I am sure it could be done anywhere.
I don't have the invoice with me (left it at work, d'oh!). I want to say it was around ~1200 or so. About half the cost was the installation + warranty. I'll try to follow-up Monday and post the actual parts and labor costs. These guys are on the high end as far as cost, which I understand, but there service on previous things has always been excellent. Plus they are like a 15 minute walk from my apartment, which is convenient when/if I need to drop my car off.

That is exactly what I want to do. 1200 is a lot of money though, so I am hoping to get it done for cheaper price wise, not quality. Very good looking though, watch out for that amp though, I would be a little nervous
