But yes, they CAN fit if you know how to weld and tweak them. It's not a bolt-in affair. I had them in my GLI.
mk3 rails are 2" wider than a mk2.
so you bent the arm in 2 inches.........Voila....it works.
Umm, it's not quite that easy. You need to do some cutting and welding of the mounts to be able to move them in two inches and to keep the seat level..
then bang each side in 1 inch.....Voila....it works...
all im saying is I have done it without welding anything with no problems.
I know that you can swap mk2 lower base to mk3 pads
in the FAQ page 6 iirc
just swap the seat rails. Simple, quick, done. Seat rails are easy to take off. Seats might be a bear to get out. But swap your old ones onto the mkiii seats, instal, done.
correct me if I'm wrong but I have a Mk2 seat and a Mk3 seat side by side right in front of me and the rails seem to be welded into the actual frame of the seat.
you remove the entire frame. Flip it over and you will see some bolts into the bottom. Take them out and the entire frame pops off.
Thats a DIY for the seats, it seems pretty easy actually
