Ya.. I drive an MK4 now.. Do I love the car? yep. Is it as fun to drive as my old crossflow? Not a chance. Different build I guess.. I still have LOTS of love for old school

That's what I mean when we used to pull our hoopties in they just didn't understand that we drove old cars for a reason.I would still rock my hooptie cabby any day I got more looks it that car than anything most out of disbelief it was legal on the streets but still looks.Iloved it when someone would try to hang with that car on corners light weight and coilovers plus big brakes imbarrased many cars.

Man, Austin guys used to base going to the GTG or not on whether or not I was going. I don't know how many people would call ME (up here in Killeen) to see if I was coming down before deciding on going or not.

I do not believe that anyone is contemplating going to a GTG based on your status.

But I don't think you even HAD a VW back in those days..

Actually I had a Seat and I was in Europe.
All im saying is that if you are such an "Austin veteran" maybe you should be a little bit more supportive for something that is trying to be revived...

Wow, that's cool. Everything I've heard about obtaining a license in Europe is it takes quite some time and is VERY expensive. you're 21 now? You'd have been 15 then.. very impressive. I'm not supportive because I'm tired of driving over 2 hours to hang out with 3 people? Or because I don't want to drive over 2 hours to stand around in 30 degree weather? That's amusing too.. As big as you are on the GTGs, I don't think I've ever seen you. And I have made a few this past year. But whatever.. Based on my status?? I don't have a "status" but I was more regular than the austin guys so they would call me.

Well....... I am a newbie to Austin and I would love to GTG with some VAG fans. parking lot, food place, coffee house, bar, I really don't care about were to meet! I met with the Audi group for lunch one day and now I am ready to meet with a VW based group. My Roots are VW and I am descent at wrenching on any watercooled pre-2006 (mainly mk1' and mk2's though)....
just suggestion: is there a place between Kileen and Austin? maybe that would be a good place to meet so everyone drives the same amount?
anyways I am down for some beer and VAG talk!
