Tell me about being stir crazy. Before the cold hit I had the flu so I really have exhausted just about every form of entertainment in the house. I did take the R out a few times and some donuts were done in an icy parking lot

whats wrong with all you texans. just cuz there is the threat of ice doesnt mean you cant leave your house. you just use the clutch to modulate how much power goes to the wheels.
once you start moving your set, just give yourself extra stoping room and use light brake pressure. if you hit ABS or lock pump the brakes.

I had to come in to work today. I brought the MkV because I figured having the ability to depress the clutch would be much better than driving with the tiptronic in my GLI. Another god thing is the GTI sits higher so the mounds of ice and slush in the center of the lanes on 183 didn't rip my front lip off. I was still smacking the underbelly a bit anyway. Slow and steady proved to work out just fine. Now getting home in a few hours as the temperature begins to drop again should be fun.

    13. 01-17-2007 02:23 PM #188
well i just spent 3 hours getting all the ice of the wifes suv adn the MKV. The ice on the roof was measuring upwards of 1.2 inches thick.. ...so i finally was able to leave the house so i did some slow speed drifting . well here's to everyone having a safe commute tomorrow

    14. 01-17-2007 07:00 PM #189
I am not worried about me on the roads, just everyone else which is why I have been staying in. I did all my driving in Virginia and Montana winters plus the AWD on the R makes things a lot easier. Texans like braking on the iced overpasses in their pickups and losing control I saw at least 5 accidents yesterday on 183 because of stupidity.

isnt that how your supposed to drive, slam on the brakes when you think its ice... this way you know its comming and it cant sneak up on you.

well the wife and I were on our way to dinner tonight and was sitting at the light on the offramp of 35 on Parmer(can you guess where this is going) and some jackass rear ends the Jetta..Luckily I had left the half inch of ice on my rear bumper so I didn't notice anything although i will have to wait til i clean it to tell.. for stupid people who don't pay attention

I just had a guy at the same intersection today try and give the raddo a facelift. He threw his big arse suv in reverse and nailed the throttle I guess he decided he didn't want to be in the turning lane.I laid on the horn and he barely stopped before slamming into me.

No, its at Loop 360 (capitol of texas highway...even though its a LOOP not a highway ) and 183. Right next to Besty Buy.

I missed the last gtg because I was stuffed with the most amazing food ever and I swore it put concrete shoes on my feet.
